Mathmom- I would try the blouse on with leggings. I would wear it with leggings if it covers my bottom.
Abasket- I bought two pairs of boots in the last few weeks. One tall pair and one bootie height. It is my first pair of tall boots in my life. I don’t think I have owned a pair of short boots since I was in my 20’s. Neither are black. I just ordered 3 different black bootie styles from Zappos to try with my black leggings.
I have jury duty this morning and I know it will be boring sitting through the check in process and watching the video. I figure I am going to try to amuse myself by checking out who is wearing leggings and with what tops or dresses and what footwear.

Haha - Mom60, report back to us on that. :)

I’m visiting San Francisco this week (from MA) and went to a concert last night. It was a jazz concert so it was an older crowd (40s-50s and up) and the vast majority of women were wearing boots and leggings. Most with tunic-type tops/sweaters or short dresses. Also saw a few women in long dresses with ankle boots. The only female performer was wearing a short glittery dress with 4" spike heels and black opaque tights. Which got me thinking–what is the difference between leggings and tights? Leggings stop at the ankle and tights have feet?

For me:
Leggings feel comfortable at the waist. Tights are not.
Tights run easy. Leggings do not.
I like the look of the bit of exposed “skin” at the ankle when wearing leggings with flats.
Leggings are warmer and “give” better.

Saw this today on Pinterest - I think this would be cute with leggings and either boots or flats since it’s a bit on the shorter side.

Also like that shirt. I have always liked loose fitting, Asia-inspired tops with skinny bottoms. A favorite is the J Jill knot button linen shirt.

I found some skinny black pants at Macy’s that zip, but have so much lycra I can pull them on. They are as comfortable as tights and a little dressier.

1moremom -

When I clicked on that link, then the three subsequent ones within the link, I got an error message.

Have to run over to the Apple Store this afternoon, so I’m going to run into Soma - haven’t been in a Soma store since last winter. Am hoping I can find some more tunics to wear with my leggings.

I have worn my Costco leggings on several occasions now. They are just so darned comfy with that 2" wide band. In fact, in a few instances I originally put on tights and just couldn’t stand the binding waist line, sausage, stomach tourniquet feeling so off they came and on went the leggings.

Tights are modern versions of the old panty hose. I remember wearing those things and cutting notches into the waist band or actually rolling the band over and wearing it on my hips because it was always so danged constricting and uncomfortable.

I think I just talked myself into ordering more of the Costco tights…get em while I can.

Here it is again–

I’ve always called it a Mandarin collar.

I’m thinking about the Soft Surroundings shirt. The only problem I have with the hem is that it wold be hard to layer. (You can often find me over on the “hot flashes” thread.)

I saved last week’s Parenthood episode because Kristina was wearing leggings and I wanted to look at her top again :)

Yeah, I’m always cold so I usually end up with sweaters over everything. Maybe I just wear long undies under it.

And there I’ll be, at the department’s holiday luncheon, in my Under Armour. ;)

The “most elegant way to wear leggings” award goes to… the mannequin pictured with the Yoogi’s Closet bags. Black leggings and a long grey sweater - very elegant.

My slouchy dress by Milly showed up a couple of days ago. While I would have a hard time calling it a dress, it is perfect over a long sleeve tee with my leather leggings. :D

BTW, from what I’ve seen recently, Scandinavian ladies live in their leggings and skinny pants.

Went to J. Jill instead of Soma (didn’t really care for anything at Soma).

Picked up this top (was $69 in the store as opposed to $79 online):
[knit tops & tees > Pure Jill marled velour tunic at J.Jill](http://www.jjill.com/jjillonline/product/itempage.aspx?BID=426834290&rPFID=33&item=J1065B&h=W&sk=W)
and this infinity scarf to go with it in the camel color:

These leggings in dark charcoal ($39 in the store as opposed to $45 online):
[leggings > ankle-length leggings at J.Jill](http://www.jjill.com/jjillonline/product/itempage.aspx?BID=426834290&rPFID=951&item=J1079C&h=W&sk=W)

This top in the dark charcoal color, and azure color (azure not shown as an option on the website); azure was also on sale in the store for $54.99; dark charcoal was priced $69 in store as opposed to $79 they show online:
[knit tops & tees > Pure Jill hooded crinkle top at J.Jill](http://www.jjill.com/jjillonline/product/itempage.aspx?BID=426834290&rPFID=33&item=J1076A&h=W&sk=W)

This top in dark charcoal (store price was $59 as opposed to $69 online)
[knit tops & tees > Pure Jill striped shirred-back tunic at J.Jill](http://www.jjill.com/jjillonline/product/itempage.aspx?BID=426834290&rPFID=33&item=J1079B&h=W&sk=W)

I tried on all these tops so I know they hang down long enough to cover my bottom. Am not sure why everything was less expensive in the store as opposed to the prices online, but I’m not complaining! But if anyone is interested in anything they see online, I’d go to a store to buy them if you have them in your area.

Terriwtt- I just might have to stop in JJill tomorrow.
A basket- my jury duty report. I observed a number of women in leggings. Mainly black but I did note one young woman in oatmeal and an older woman in charcoal. Shoes ranged from ballet flats to both tall and short boots. It was a cold day and most had sweaters of tunic length or sweater dresses. All of the subjects had hemlines several inches above the knee.
My study has ended though due to the fact that the case was delayed and we were all excused with credit for service. Yeah!

EXCELLENT report mom60!

I have a pair of charcoal leggings but haven’t worn them yet. Black seems a little more conservative I guess. Baby steps!

A basket- the charcoal were on a woman of about 60. She looked very pulled together. Charcoal leggings, black Patent leather wedged heel flats. A black loose fitting cashmere sweater that just covered her bottom. She also had on a very soft looking heather grey knit scarf. She definitely looked age appropriate.
The oatmeal were on a young woman who had them with a long cream cable knit cowl neck sweater with gold ballet flats. The oatmeal cream combination might be too young for us middle aged leggings wearers.

Yeah, I would not be interested in oatmeal leggings! Sounds like some nice outfits for jury duty!!

These are about the same weight as leggings & are adorable on.
(Assuming you are wearing them with a dress/ tunic & not as pants.)
Think three- dimensional.
