Abasket,
i don’t wear anything under the dress but i don’t like anything too high on my neck. It’s a tactile thing for me. I have been wearing a little cardigan over that dress. I got the dress in the rose color. Wear it with black leggings, brown mid calf boots and a beigy, lacey cardigan. I have gotten a lot of compliments on it.

As far as what i wear in the warm months. I switch to maxi length skirts and dresses when i can find them in petite lengths. Hate my legs, hate my legs, hate my legs!!!

Returned from my visit to SF. I wore leggings 2 out of the 3 days. I wore them with the Mountain Hardware dress that I purchased early on in this thread. That day I wore Toms with them. I also wore a sweater dress with them with boots one evening. I also wore leggings with a tunic top with Nike air sneakers. I cannot walk those hills in SF in boots.

I made it to the Athleta store this time. It was my first time in one of their stores and I was happy I made the visit. We went during the football games and the store was almost empty. I stuck to the sales racks.
I tried on a lot of the dresses and lots of tunic style tops. I found for my body type the dresses just didn’t look good or fit well and just looked ridiculous on me. I am small chested but have a stomach. What fit my mid section was way to big on top.Plus I found that on me the lengths just were too long. I have discovered that the longer tunic tops look better on me. They cover my butt with several inches to spare but I they aren’t something I would wear without a bottom. I ended up with 5 tops to wear with leggings. All were marked down with an additional % off of all sale items. I found that I size varies based on the item. The items I bought ranged from size small to large. I loved everything I purchased and I think I will wear each item many times. I do think at full price the store is expensive. I guess it would fall into one of the things I can afford to splurge on but can’t bring myself to pay full price for.

Just had to pull this leggings thread up once again to make an appearance in the new format. :)

Ladies, I’ve loved my leggings. I find that when I’m picking out my work clothes for the next day (yes, I pick out ahead of time!) I WANT to create an outfit based on using my leggings. I wear them probably 2-3 times a week. Granted, I’m in Ohio and it’s been an AWFUL winter in many ways weather wise!!! But my leggings are more of a sure bet than even pants to keep my legs warm, cozy, comfortable.

Picked up a couple of skirts to go with leggings this weekend at an Ann Taylor Loft outlet - shorter wool blend, lined skirts that I can pair up with a solid tee and a cardigan. My short black boots bought specifically for leggings have gotten a good work out this winter!

Must say though, it’s almost MARCH! Would pack away these leggings in a heartbeat to get back to dresses/skirts with bare legs! Will that time ever come?! Hopeful…

Abasket- thanks for bumping this thread. I am also loving my leggings. I have been wearing my Athleta purchases a lot.
I love the way a pair of leggings can go from super casual to going out to dinner with just a quick change. A few weeks ago I wore leggings with fleece on top and Merrill trail runners to watch a cross country horse training session. I walked the entire course. A quick change in the car. Merrill shoes switched out for short boots. Fleece top switched out for a tunic length sweater. Threw on a necklace and I was good to go.
In spring I have a couple of long linen sweaters that will go over the leggings. Toms for shoes.

I’m thinking my leggings would be too warm for spring. Maybe I need to find lighterweight ones for the transition?? Or crop leggings??? Any opinions/suggestions there for long-time leggings wearers???

They are too warm for me in summer - I suppose the lack of air flow makes them feel sticky. I do wear the shorter legging (stops below knee, above the calf), but only to work out.

Summertime can be leggings time in my neck of the woods, but usually it is too warm even to run in running cropped tights. Keeping fingers crossed for leggings-free upcoming summer!

I tied on a few dresses at the recently opened Max Mara store, and the sales ladies commented how great I looked in their opinion - “look, she has no belly fat!” I did not divulge my little secret - I kept my Lulu Wunder Under leggings on under the dresses I tried on. No wunder! ;)

I was thinking more March-April for an ankle crop legging or something. I know it’s important to not look like a 6/16 year old… once it’s warm enough for nothing on the legs, I’m all over that!!!

Currently (and for the majority of the rest of the year) it will be too hot for leggings. I’m am the princess of leggings. I’m an avid sweater collector and what sweater collector doesn’t have leggings?? I started wearing leggings because I do yoga and pilates. Now with the warmer weather, I switch to spandex shorts to workout in.

Once it get into the upper 70s, it is too sticky to wear leggings; especially, cotton based ones. Spandex based are ok, although I do not like the reflection in the sun they give off. So rather than being a sweater and leggings kind of girl, I switch to being a high-waist shorts and a oversized tank kind of girl. :)

Alrighty people, this is the first morning that it feels COLD here at work and I’m thinking about leggings! Which made me think of this thread - which made me have to pull it back out for a moment!

A little early for me to give into winter clothes yet - I just can’t do winter clothes starting in October! Another month maybe.

Any new dress/skirt leggings combos to share? Boots to wear with them??? I picked up a couple Athleta dresses this summer (for winter) for under $30 - will be wearing those! Noticed that TJ Maxx had some adorable sweater dresses yesterday - again, all under $40 that would be perfect too.

Miami, the thread is called “how do you wear your leggings” which is not “do you wear leggings” - plus there are 32 pages pretty much dedicated to “how people wear their leggings” so…just saying

I love capri leggings and Wunder Unders under a “kicky” dress or skirt. Wonder Unders have kind of a low rise, so aren’t always the best choice under something with more cling. I have thicker ones that can be worn with a long linen shirt and some that are a bit more tights-like and not meant to be worn separately.

I’m glad there are so many good choices again. I used to wear Hue leggings of all lengths in college and it was a good look for me. They had some knee length ones with a little ruffle that I used to be able to carry off . . . ahhhh those were the days.

With boots I prefer leggings and separate socks. Tights always make my toes feel like they’re being scrunched and it allows me to go for wool in winter.

I know it’s a legging thread but I have to go over this fashion issue. I wear dresses for work with heels. I know pantyhose are out. I hate my bare legs and bare feet in high heel shoes hurt. It also looks unfinished to me. It’s still too warm for tights. What’s a working woman to do?
