I went to my 50th HS reunion in 2016. :open_mouth:

People are making noises that we should be planning our 60th.

To combine these two thoughts…

I went to a Hall & Oats concert and man, they ARE OLD. The Jumbotron would zoom in on their hands and that’s when I really thought they were old.

I went to an Eagles concert a few years ago but several of the group have been replaced by younger musicians (Glenn Fry by his son, who was only 24). Joe Walsh is a million years old but he seemed old when he was 40 (drugs will do that to you). He couldn’t say more than a few words and sounded like Cousin IT, but he can still play and sing. It was one of my favorite concerts ever, and I’ve seen the Eagles more than once.

I’m feeling old remembering the Eagles were the first big concert I attended-Linda Ronstandt was the opening act. 49 years ago - everyone was young then.

The very first concert attended was REO Speedwagon and I’m so old it was in my high school gym!

Before seeing the tour of the Eagles a few years ago, I always said my favorite concert of all time was the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and Pure Prairie League. It was a big stadium show, and about 49 years ago. Linda’s band was late so after PPL finished, Linda came on stage and sang without the band (maybe a piano? guitar?) for about 45 minutes. Then Linda and her designed set, and then the Eagles. All were wonderful.

We went to the Who’s North America Farewell tour a few nights ago. Average age of audience must have been around 60-65 years old. In the sea of grey hair, we fit right in.

Roger Daltrey, at 81, still can sing relatively well at his age. Pete Townshend , at 80, can still play the guitar.

Watching Michigan football on TV right now and realizing my sweatshirt is more than twice as old as those kids in the bleachers (bought at Moe’s in ‘77). :sob:

OK - To those of use who really ARE old- 10 points if you know who this is and what he is known for (bonus points if you know who his wife is).

She strikes a memory. He does not.

He reminds me of the Wolfman, the DJ from the 60/70s and she looks familiar but unsure.

Good guesses, but nope

We have HS reunions every five years now. This started after our 40th reunion…because it seemed like a good idea to have them more often. And they have been well enough attended. The ones with 5 at the end…45, 55, are a lot more casual and are one night events. The ones with zero 50…and we will get to 60 are typically a whole weekend.

Some classes from my high school also had 60th and 65th and 70th birthday get togethers, but these were smaller.

My class does formal reunions every 5 years and informal reunions every year. The informal events are just a one day get together in a restaurant or outdoors at a park. This started happening as we realized we are getting old.

Two event reunion weekends are one event too long. The last reunion I went to had a casual evening gathering followed by a more formal afternoon event the next day. Really, what conversation could I have at a formal event that I didn’t already have the night before? Just pick one, people!

One of our neighbors hosted a community potluck yesterday. I think a couple of people are still working, but the majority are retired. Lots of talk about travel, gray hair, aches and pains, etc. Suddenly the “old” people don’t seem that old anymore. There aren’t any young families out here and it’s gotten really quiet.

My class has had weekend reunions every 5 years since 5 years after graduation. Many grads still live in the area or have parents who do, so it isn’t BIG travel for most. In fact, some people only come to the informal Friday night and skip the dinner on Sat night. The biggest change is that about year 30 or 35 we combined with the Catholic high school because of intermarriage or friends who wanted to see friends from the other school too. Catholic school was much smaller, maybe 100 while the public school had about 540 (although both are much much smaller now).

The thing that gets me is the ‘Saturday activities’ which always include golf and kayaking, and usually one other activity. We’re OLD. Friday night drinking, then Saturday physical activity, then a dinner dance on Sat is a lot! I haven’t been since the 25th reunion (I don’t have family in the area) but next year is 50, so I’ll try to go. But I won’t kayak and I haven’t golfed in ears.

I’ll probably nap.

A friend just told me her husband went to HS with Bon Jovi. X degrees of separation…

Those are some of my favorites to this day. I have seen the Eagles multiple times, but Linda Rondstandt only once that I remember. I saw a fair number of concerts when I was young, and I really liked REO both then and now, but I don’t think I ever saw them.
