I am an Indian applicant with an 80% and a 2000 SAT score, I was wishing to applying to Gtech for the later years, but initially I wanna go for the community or state colleges to reduce down the cost.
I had short listed Georgia Perimeter College for this purpose, but most of the people around me have advised me not to go for the community colleges as there are academic and future security problems according to them. Is that true?
Any other suggestion for a cheap college in Atlanta which could help me go to Gtech in the 3rd year?

actually …you are eligible for transfer only in freshmen or in some cases till sophomore year
In continuation to my answer on another thread …I shall advise you not to follow the community college path to college as it is not 100% certain that you will get in as a transfer applicant…plus even if you do, you will not be eligible for financial aid
I would rather tell you to be positive and give it a go…but make sure you have a plan B in India too.
I am a high school sophomore from a middle class family just like you, so I think this plan will be suitable for you as well
and why only Atlanta?? you can try any other state too.
which school are you from in India and what is your nationality??
PS : are you taking a gap year ??

Why can’t I apply for financial aid later? Even if I get a good gpa in the college?
And I am location specific as one of my cousins live there, so that would help me cut down the costs.
Step By Step High School, Jaipur
What else should I look for according to you?

even though you getc a good gpa…the chance of qualifying for aid is not much…ltd is staTed clearly on most college websites that transfer applicants are not eligible for aid. if you can work hArd enough in high school, you can manage to get pretty good merit based scholarships.

I have an 80% in high school. And that ain’t sufficient to get a good amount of scholarship!
So what should I do according to you? Should I go for the community colleges like the georgia perimeter college? OR for the state universities like University of west Georgia? OR for the universities like pacific oregon?
FOR A FURTHER TRANSFER TO GTECH!?

In my opinion you should stick to a college you would not regret to attend for your entire undergrad program ( worst case scenario) . this way you would have the choice to stick to it if circumstances are not favourable or if you do manage to get in at GTech, then move there, hopefully with merit based aid
State univs and universities would be better, but state and public univs aren’t very generous in terms of aid to internationals , but universities are much better.

How is the university of west georgia in particular?
It’s application deadline is 12 hours from now, and extended application deadline is a month from now, which one should I go for?
And I haven’t sent my SAT scores through collegeboard to any of these, will that matter?

i dont know much about it but this link from us news might be usful for you
