Maybe they can bring in the members of the Brady Bunch who rehabbed their old house and they can date some of the Bachelors/bachelorette as the redo the mansion? Or the Property Brothers? Or some of the DIYers from some of the other reality TV programs?
The franchise definitely has jumped the shark. I have no interest in watching the Mormon woman next season. I mean, I assume she’s already a reality star; why are we trying to help HER find “love”? The franchise has forgotten why we first liked it.
Like I said, this week was my first week watching the actual episode. I can’t believe how quickly they’ve moved. Fewer episodes and only an hour long? Geez, buy them dinner first. And, sorry, ladies … no traveling for you.
But I think they did a not-great job of casting this time. Nicole said the quiet part out loud – Is anyone in it for the right reasons? In the Golden franchise, part of what made it so great is that we fell in love and were rooting for the personalities. The lonely men who were finding friendship in each other, for instance. Now, the GB franchise is just older, surgically altered versions of the younger contestants. Disappointing.
I remember watching some of the first season. It was on at 7 pm at my house, so a lot more PG than it is now. My kids went to bed at 8 (I think they were 3 and 4) and I remember them getting ready, taking a bath, and then we’d watch the last 10 minutes and my kids would vote for who they wanted to get roses based on the dresses.
Honestly, I think that method was probably as good as the current one of judging whether they are there ‘for the right reason.’
Is that before or after competing on Dancing With the Stars?
I can’t wait to see how they portray my hometown!
I watched. They FLEW through the hometowns, especially the first two it seemed.
Episodes spoilers below:
I did not think Debbie would make the cut but I think we all knew it would be devastating to her - they weren’t a good match. Mel is a decent guy but she seemed too “nice” for him - I think he craves a bit of a wild one. ![]()
On the other hand Peg’s energy she gives exhausts me - and I have a lot of energy. I feel like she would leave him in the dust. She has a fun but a bit of a hard exterior IMO - may have been the filming but she did not offer any comfort to Debbie when she left? Cindy exchanged words, touch, hugs.
I think Cindy gets the final rose. Do they stay as a couple? Unsure. I also kind of appreciate that Mel isn’t giving off “I’m in love” vibes when he is not there yet. I wonder does he want a wife - or a girlfriend? Either is ok!
So is the finale next week or are there 2 weeks left? It was hard to tell with the way they presented “women tell all”
Next week is Women Tell All
Only Women Tell All? Heck, most of them came and left so fast we don’t know anything much about them! That is gonna be a boring show.
I think he’ll pick Cindy, and Peg will make a great next GBette.
I truly don’t know that we are going to see another season of any Golden. The fact that they could barely hash a season of maybe 8 1 hour episodes and dismal ratings to go with that, it might unfortunately (cause I like the concept) go bye bye
I was thinking they would have Debbie as the next Golden Bachelorette so that she was guaranteed (maybe) to find love.
I think Peg will be like Susan. They will use her for guest appearances on other shows. I’m sure she is being approached to be a spokesperson for a variety of active lifestyle products.
Mel has been such a dud. I don’t know why they picked him over the more interesting options from the Golden Bachelorette. He seems to have zero interest in any of these women.
I hope they don’t pick Debbie. What we learned about her past last night explains why she presents as kind of fragile. I don’t want a bunch of guys who aren’t there for the right reasons toying with her. But I do hope that this experience has opened her up to the possibilities and that she finds someone separate from the show.
As an aside, her family seemed so nice. I heard someone say that they were like an advertisement for why you should have a lot of kids! lol
Very well Said about Debbie. ![]()
What did they show of Austin? I don’t have time to watch the show this week.
They didn’t show much of any of the hometowns. They probably showed Red Rocks Canyon outside Denver the most. Peg showed off her fire station. There was a quick shot of downtown Austin. Everything else was talking to the families and friends.
Cindy lives in a high rise in downtown (?) Austin. They showed her pointing that out in the skyline and they visited it briefly after her family visit. And her family visit was at a restaurant, not a home - don’t remember the name
Almost nothing. They met near Auditorium Shores so she could point out her high-rise condo in the skyline. Where she actually was pointing was a little confusing to me, but they made it seem that she lived in the sailboat building. They left there to meet her kids for a meal at Eberly on South Lamar and then to her condo, which was lovely with a great view.
I mean, everything they did was literally within two miles of each other. I guess that’s one way to avoid traffic!
Oh, and when they introduced the city they did show a nice skyline photo with the lake.
Like everything else about this “season,” truncated.
Red Rocks Canyon is near Vegas. Red Rocks amphitheater (the best concert venue in the world) is owned by the City of Denver, but outside city limits.
Can’t wait for this season to be over!
