Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

Looks like Tulane might be a tough one to get and only 75% of tuition. Although I guess 75% is better than nothing

Anyone else feeling nervous? I just had my daughter apply to another school this week - local safety school with high TE %. I’m hoping we get at least one TE offer to give her some options in case our home institution doesn’t work out (she was deferred there). Need to just not think about all this for another month!

Right there with you. So hard to be patiently waiting!

the 75% tuition does make Tulane more affordable than most of our state affiliated universities (although not the one I work at - but my daughter is refusing to attend my school of course). My daughter was offered $5,000 a year from Pitt so far and that would make Pitt the same cost as Tulane. I am just curious about the stats on students who get the Tulane TE. Admissions there seems tied to demonstrated interest, ED, ED2, and projected yield. My D22 has a Pitt TE. I am assuming it would be too much to ask to have them give us a second one! :joy:

trying to convince my daughter to add another TE school also after reading this. I went into the process blind in 22 with my older daughter. She only got one TE offer (at Pitt) and took it. I would like my younger daughter to have options. However, all the TE schools she applied to seem to be the most competitive ones. (Pitt, Richmond, GW, American, Tulane, USC).

My 2023 kid had a lower gpa (3.3) so we knew TE would be competitive. However, being rejected from TE from 2 Jesuit schools (I work for a Jesuit) was a kick in the gut. Especially as he visited one of the schools twice before decision was made (Loyola New Orleans) and the one school called us (the parents) repeatedly after his music audition as they really wanted him (Xavier).

D25 has a lower gpa 3.0 so we are desperately trying to find affordable non-TE schools for her to apply to as I feel she has little to no chance at TE. (Top choices for her based on major for TE are Dean, Shenandoah, Florida Southern, LeMoyne, Oklahoma City U, Jacksonville U, and Lindenwood.)

Very nervous! We received an email from a school offering a application waiver code and I tried to get my daughter to do one last application. (it is a TE school). She refused . :joy:

I know from reading last years TE thread your son ended up getting a great school! Hopefully you get something great with your D25 as well. Some schools TE is a high percent like 41 and above. You might look at those.

That is an interesting question. I wonder if schools give TE to siblings. I will cross my fingers for your daughter

@2plustrio - have you all considered Seattle University? One of the Jesuit Universities, located in a great city and very fun neighborhood. Beautiful park-like campus, size is about 4,500 for UG, and 7,000 with grad students. Seattle is a great place for internships. Airport is about 15-20 minutes from campus by light rail. I’ve been working there for the last two years and love the students and faculty on the campus - very smart and engaged!

Great suggestion. My daughter toured here and really liked the tour and campus. This is the only one out of six Washington schools that we toured that she ended up wanting to apply to. She was accepted just waiting to hear about TE.

Seattle is a fun to place to be and the PNW is very beautiful. @2plustrio maybe you should come check it out

If she decides she is fine with a dance team and not a dance minor, I would love a kid to attend Seattle U for someplace fun to visit!

Yeah, Xavier was 11-40% and looked at test scores (he had a 35 ACT) but no luck. Was hoping Loyno wouldnt be a popular choice as we hadn’t heard of anyone else really applying for TE there.
Right now she thinks she is pretty insistent that the school must have a criminal justice major AND a dance minor and not just a dance team which makes for slimmer pickings. We will see if she changes her mind by next summer when she starts applying. Diversity is important to her (she is Latina) and she is open to religious requirements but not open to womens only colleges.
Right now LeMoyne and Oklahoma City U have 40 plus acceptance for TE.

My kid just got a TE offer from lemoyne and is turning it down. She emailed that she wanted to rescind her application because after consideration it was too far, and they must not have read it because she got a letter about TE this week.

Well hopefully someone else looking for TE there can now receive. It was good of you to try and rescind

Definitely nervous. All of D24s apps are in (all RD) and 4 are TE schools. We basically need Santa to come down the chimney with a huge sack of aid.

Because it’s such a vague process, I was glad to hear from Lesley how they award it (even if it means D24 will almost certainly not get it, she is not a high achiever) - I am an employee of a CIC-TEP school, but not TE, so it may differ for the TE program:

For applicants, the selection of Tuition Exchange recipients will be made by the mid-March. The selection committee includes faculty and staff at Lesley, and the review process focuses on:

  • Academic achievement throughout high school
  • Strength of academic schedule
  • The student’s potential for contribution to the Lesley University community

We also encourage you to apply for financial aid and other outside scholarships because The Tuition Exchange Scholarships are limited; typically about four recipients receive the scholarship each fall. Applicants who have completed the financial aid process will receive their need-based financial aid packages in early March.

The Tuition Exchange Scholarship for 2024-2025 will be $33,326.

Hi all! We’ve applied for TE at a TON of schools for our class of 24 daughter. In embarrassed to say how many, but our university removed the cap this year and our girl is auditioning for very competitive performing arts programs so we had to cast a wide net. Just letting everyone know that so far we’ve been awarded TE at Viterbo, denied at Belmont, and placed on the waitlist at Pace and Marymount Manhattan. Waiting on all many others along with you

My S23 applied as a vocal performance major. I totally get the wide net for music type majors AND TE!!!

Yeah it’s like this crazy added later to an already stressful process. Many of these BFA programs take less than 10% of applicants (some far less), so when you multiply that by the TE odds at some places, you’re talking stars needing to align :joy: Hope it worked out well for your family! We’re happy to have an early option and hoping for at least a couple more.
