Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

S24 just received the tuition exchange at Rhodes. If any of your children applied there, check your portal. EA decisions are out and apparently they are awarding TE!

Congrats on the TE at Rhodes! It’s a great option to have in the bank!

With respect to Skimore’s TE chances, I would still go with the website’s reported stats, which is currently 11-40%. I was actually surprised in checking the site, as I would have guessed it would have been the under-10% category. I will say that CC’s posters tend to be/have kids who are in the very high-performing range (far moreso than the typical groups of graduating seniors), so I don’t think it would be unusual that CC would have a higher-than-normal representation of TE recipients.

Thank you! Yes, we are all very excited. It’s his second TE offer, both at great schools, so that takes some pressure off.

I have a spreadsheet which I have been updating over the course of the past year (fun times–Iol). My S21 went through this a few years ago, so I am familiar with the TE process and the percentage of TE awarded (though it is no less nerve-wracking the second time around). When we started our search for our twins, I, too, was surprised at Skidmore’s being in the 11-40% range, and even more surprised when the TE liaison suggested it might be even higher. With TE I work with the assumption that despite the percentage listed on the website, things might change from year to year based on the applicant pool. It’s always a bit of a crapshoot–at least, that’s how it was when my oldest went through the process.

Fingers crossed for him and for all TE applicants on this thread. As you note, these are high-achieving kids, and it’s been fun seeing them rewarded for their hard work!

My S21 applied there. It is a great school, with a very friendly staff, and amazing location. In the end it was just a little too far for us, but I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Everyone I work with that has had tuition exchange has gotten it at Skidmore (which is three) but I have no idea how competitive their applications were etc. It left me with the impression that if you got into skidmore it was not that hard to get TE but to be honest we didn’t apply so I do not know more than that.

That’s amazing! Congratulations!

Twin A was deferred from Viterbi and we are bummed.

Twin B was accepted at Clark tonight though. We are feeling the long wait to TE, too.

Any idea when Clark gives out TE?

So exciting! Crossing my fingers for you for TE.

My oldest went to USC. Fight On!

Thank you! Viterbi is Engineering? It seems like they were overrepresented in EA so hopefully will accept a lot more in RD! Congrats on Clark!

Yes, Viterbi is engineering. We are not from a state heavily represented at USC but older sibling lives in LA so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Pitt is high on the list for Twin A also and I think those might come out in the beginning of February…

Best of luck to your daughter in TE (and hopefully scholarship interviews at USC). What outstanding accomplishments and contributions to her community- rooting for her!

No idea but if we hear anything I’ll let you know. Best of luck and congratulations on the acceptance/merit!

thank you! Pitt is a great choice for engineering. My older daughter has the TE there and the process has been very easy and covers everything except about 1600 a year in various fees.

Big congrats to your daughter! Quite a feat to be accepted in the EA round. The wait for USC TE will not be short so all you can do is embrace this moment. You must be one proud mama:)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you too:)
Might be different this year for Pitt, but checked and my D23 received their tuition exchange award on 2/1.

That is interesting! My D22 received the email with the Pitt tuition exchange offer on 1/6/22. I figured D24 was out of luck based on that date having passed, but it sounds like it was a lot later last year! Good to know.

Oh no, it looks there was a typo in my earlier post. Pitt’s TE notification was actually 2/1 last year. (Honors notification came out on 2/19.) I’ll edit previous post.
Sorry all!

Any more TE offers coming in??

No TE offers for us yet. Acceptances at 2 out of 5 TE schools applied to so far, both with merit and grants that basically equal TE (my kid has pretty high stats).

If that gives us the same $ off tuition while leaving more TE $ for others, that’s fine! Still, fingers crossed on the rest of the apps.
