Love it! I know every kid is different but the full tuition makes such an impact. And we can now afford to pay for study abroad and other experiences for him that are out of reach for my daughter at another TE institution that doesn’t cover full tuition. I’ll always be grateful.
I just checked website and saw this addition. I think it is great that it is included but I’m wondering if it’s fully accurate?! For instance, my son reached out to St Joes and they said they received just under 200 applicants, but on the website it says they received 101?
Just checked this out. Definitely misleading, especially for first time TE appliers!
Yes, exactly!
This can’t be import…my daughter was denied TE at University of Delaware and they said they had 300+ applications but here is their info from last year, which I very much doubt had only 24 applications…
But also doesn’t make sense if it was export…
Right - but what then, is # enrolled? Number of exported students that accepted a TE offer somewhere?
to me, the approved and enrolled numbers seem to be reasonable? I would think #enrolled is the the number that accepted a TE offer there? IDK
No, definitely can’t be. Even though many are not transparent, I DO know the import acceptance numbers for quite a few schools on our list and the numbers the TE liaisons gave me from previous years and it doesn’t jive at all - not even close. BUT, since a school can import as many as they want, but only export as many as they import (without running a negative “credit” balance) - it would make sense to be as I was thinking of it - but who knows. It would be nice to have some field descriptions on the website, or, a point of contact for questions?
Hmm that is interesting, I hadn’t seen that. Who can you contact about this (or is it someone you know personally)?
I was just thinking the general email lol
It is definitely not accurate. Bucknell publishes their numbers on their website:
and the TE site lists:
2024-2025 TE EZ-Application Information
TE EZ-Applications Received: 14
TE EZ-Applications Approved: 9
TE EZ-Applications Enrolled: 9
Maybe the TE-EZ application information is for those who applied via the TE-EZ application, but the numbers you see for last year include applicants who may have applied via their home school HR department. in 2024-25 cycle my daughter applied via our HR department, but this year it was mandated to apply through TE-EZ. So hopefully in future years the TE-EZ numbers will be accurate
Also, I wish every school was as transparent as Bucknell!
The cost of dorm/food plan for TE schools we were looking at was between 12-22k/year. Almost all had 2 year dorming requirement.
S23’s best fit was a TE school, Cuse which only gives set rate but they did allow him to stack additional merit. His Total COA is in the 21-24k/yr range.
D25 did receive full tuition TE offers but sadly, none were great fits for her major and/or her feelings of personal safety. She is choosing a non TE school (Central Michigan) and tuition will be about 7k/yr (plus her dorming fees). Total COA for the first 2 years will be around 21k/yr.
I was one of those who took my teaching job partly because of this potential benefit. While the college I am at is a decent school, it was not a good fit for either of my kids. I did not know that TE awards would be so difficult to receive and I do not believe this is going to get any easier in the near future. I struggle with the low salary I receive and how monies have been handled by the university I work at. In the future I could see myself leaving my current job for a higher paying position outside of academia. My youngest choosing a non TE school means I no longer have to factor her college costs in my job decisions.
ETA: Forgot to add, D25 got awarded a $7395 Federal Pell Grant for fall. Total direct cost at her non TE school is now 13k/yr.
My daughter was just officially notified that she is on the waitlist for Tuition Exchange at Syracuse and will hear by June 1. She has a lot of good options, but she was really excited about the possibility of Syracuse. I hope some people here got some good news!
My kid just found out he has made it off the waitlist for TE at Clark. We finally have a TE win!!! They called, which was a nice touch.
He also heard he was waitlisted for TE at Syracuse with a deadline of 6/1. We will definitely not be depositing without it.
Has anyone heard an update at St Joes- we still have not received ANY info regarding the TE decision? Son wants to email them again, but I don’t want to be relentless. I don’t know when they plan on sending out denials and TE awards, (that were turned down from students) but I’m hoping soon!
Also, has anyone heard from DePaul and/or have any idea when those decisions may come out?
Has anyone received their University of Florida TE decision yet?
Hi- D25 just accepted at USC. Anyone here know how many TE awards available there. It is an incredibly expensive school.
