We visited Ursinus last year (and it seemed like a wonderful place). It was one of my son’s front-runners for TE schools. We ended up not using TE at all but the admission counselor told us that basically everyone who applies for TE there gets it.

What would you do?

I just found out that my home institution never sent our approval for my daughter’s tuition exchange. Long story short, she was accepted to USC’s film production program. It is an extremely elite program with acceptance rates below 5 percent. Apparently USC is famous for delaying announcements till late April. I did check in with both USC and my home institution throughout the spring to make sure paperwork was in place. Neither institution indicated there was a problem. We still did not hear a decision by May 1 and USC refused to extend the deadline. My home college still insisted that tuition exchange was in USC’s hands. I just got a call from my university apologizing and now admitting due to administrative error, they never forwarded our application. Tuition exchange at USC is valued at $250,000 over 4 yers. I did talk to a financial aid officer from USC who assured me that cinematic arts students would be receiving the tuition exchange. USC no longer has the funds nor the space for my daughter and I am really enraged by the error. What should I ask my home institution to do to rectify the situation? Is this a legal matter?

I’m so sorry to hear that, @Raj_Xray. This news absolutely stinks. Perhaps @Hanna might have some insight?

I would just go the following year. It’s likely that USC will still want the student in the following year’s class. If they’re full this year, they’re full. It sucks, but the student will only become a stronger candidate after a gap year working.

Just FYI: Syracuse just emailed today (!) that my kid is off the waitlist for TE. He is committed to another school but we will consider this weekend. Just FYI for anyone that might still be holding out hope!

Great list so far, love the urban focus, and strong business options. The Butler comment made me laugh, sounds just like my sibling!

Last year, my son got accepted to PACE in NYC. I kept emailing the liason and we did go there to visit twice. Average student with a big personality.
