Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

Anyone participate in the live chat with President Mike Fitts? He said this year’s admissions is one of the most competitive yet!

@dpassons76 - there is nothing to worry about. All applicants will be given a decision no later than December 20. Although some people do find out sooner, the decision deadline is there for a reason. You still have 20 days to be given a decision. Please keep in mind that Tulane is not a rolling admission school.

@TulaneBarry Do you think people who haven’t heard a decision yet are more likely to be rejected/deferred?

@UofMorMSU - I really would not be able to confidently provide an answer to that question. I am sorry, I wish I knew!

Agree, daughter deferred last year and received $30K merit

Have any international student heard the result yet? Is there an upcoming wave? I’m really nervous.(ok stats 1530 sat,112 toefl, good gpa with many ap courses, still only received the ‘at least we received your first part’ gibson email)

It has been quiet the last few days on acceptances. I guess Tulane is back on the old pattern of mailing acceptance letters on Thursdays (no more email acceptances) and updating the portal on Monday evenings. Only a couple weeks left until the Tulane communication deadline. I am still hoping for favorable news on my ED application, but it is sure hard to stay positive now. The partial communication by Tulane on just acceptances on a weekly basis is torture for those that are left waiting. Tulane should consider a rolling admission (notify all applicants on deferral or admission 4-6 weeks after submission) or release all decisions at the same time. Of course, my opinion of Tulane’s “selective” rolling admission would be different if I have received the “large” envelope by now. :))

Will any student be at a disadvantage if they applied on some of the last days of EA ( I applied Nov 15) in that spots are harder to get?

@element59 I don’t know about EA but I applied ED on 10/31 (a day before the deadline) and was accepted 11/14 so there should be little to no disadvantage.

Anyone get any mail acceptances?

Is anyone aware about how Tulane looks at the Cambridge AICE Program?

I applied EA and have yet to hear back. My SAT scores were def the worst part of my application. I did visit Tulane, but I’m wondering if my test scores will ruin my application. Also for hearing on admissions, the portal only post decisions Monday? but we can get letters any day of the week?

Waiting is hard. As someone who hasn’t heard back yet I completely get the anxiety and anticipation, however, I think it is important to realize the sheer volume of applications Tulane must go through. The school seems to notify as they complete reviews meaning that many applications are not going to be read until close to the notification deadline. Additionally, certain regions have received less notifications likely do to the reps in those areas needing to travel to promote the school, so I wouldn’t read too much into when you submitted vs. when you are notified. I encourage everyone to take a deep breath and realize that if you care this much about getting into the school it is sure to shine through on your application especially in the “why tulane” section. Best of luck to all in admissions purgatory we have less than 3 weeks.

Now that I am in, why grades am I expected to keep during the rest of the year?

I’m an A-B student on average, so a couple Cs in 2 APs is fine, right?

I have submitted an EA application on 10/17 and received an email saying that I shall receive my Gibson login soon. But I haven’t received it. Should I contact my admissions counsellor?

@pv160899 I would my son talked with someone and they fixed it for him. TulaneBarry helped him. Private message him and he will help you out I believe. He did in my son’s case. My son applied later.

Is anyone else unable to find the information that was previously on Tulane’s website about the Dean’s Honor Scholarship? It appears the link has been removed and when I do find a link on another website, it leads me to a 404 error message.

Did you go in through your portal?

yes @jym626 . there is a link to the information about scholarships that is available from googling. however, the guidelines are simply not there to click on.

I’d suggest going straight from Tulane’s website and trying to go in through your application portal. The deadline is Monday. Maybe they made some website change after close of business Friday. I assume you got your application in by the EA deadline.
