Tulane Early Action / Early Decision Class of 2030 Official Thread

lots of ways to demonstrate interest. Virtual info sessions, virtual tours, etc. Depends on how seriously interested you are whether it is worth it or not as it is time consuming….

Do you have to submit first semester grades if you ed2

Generally yes, and also to all RD schools.

what if you get your grades back after the deadline?

This would be the perfect opportunity to reach out to the AO for your region, introduce yourself (student) and say that the expected timeline for your school to release grades is XX/XX and “is that OK”?

Generally your school should submit them as soon as they are available. What is the deadline and when are your grades available? If there is a significant delay then your counselor should communicate with admissions to let them know they will be sent as soon as they are available. Generally the school will consider your application incomplete until the 1st semester grades are sent.

Have the Dean’s Honor Scholarships already been awarded? Is it realistic to get larger scholarships if I’ve only received a $15K upon admission? Thanks!

Tulane’s website says Dean’s Honors Scholarship Winners are notified in late February. Although I wonder how critical it is to submit supplemental materials since a separate scholarship application is not required this year.

Did anyone get notice that they’re semifinalist for Stamps Scholarship? From Tulane’s website “Semifinalists will be invited to submit supplements by January 5th. Finalists will be invited to interview in the spring. Approximately 5 Stamps Scholarships are awarded each year.”

I mention this in a different thread and it may or may not apply to you - but unless a merit scholarship gets you below your expected family contribution - the Tulane Net Price Calculator can give a good approximation of that amount - it’s somewhat irrelevant. Merit is considered part of the dollars in your aid package.

If the merit gets you below your EFC, that’s a great thing.

I have the same question. My son received a $30k/year merit scholarship, but is there still a chance that it’s “upgraded” to a Dean’s Honor by end of February?

Yes. Unless things have changed, my S was awarded the highest automatic merit scholarship with his admission (I forget the name and the amount) and was later awarded the DHS (this was before the Stamps and Paul Tulane were available). The DHS replaced the other merit $. But, unless things have changed, the auto merit money and the Community Service award are stackable.

Excellent - fingers crossed!

What are chances of acceptance coming off a deferal if you ed2?

Much better than if you do RD

Impossible to tell how much the current year might compare to the last.

The last 4 years they’ve accepted ~1,150-1,250 through the ED rounds. On their ED posting this year they state that they accepted 840 through ED1 suggesting they’ll take another ~350 through ED2 which is probably going to be a (guessing) 50% acceptance rate.

They don’t give specific RD acceptance numbers but EA/RD combined the last few years has been a 8-11% acceptance rate with the bulk of those acceptances being in the EA round.

Does anyone know when TPM invite came out last year? Tulane website only says January, trying to get a sense of how long they give to work on TPM application if invited.

I got deferred…

First Gen, low income

GPA 3.95UW 4.64W

12 APs (3’s and 4’s, but unfortunately no 5…) Test Optional for SAT and ACT

EC’s:

Science Olympiad (sci-oly coordinator for sci-nhs)

Chinese NHS vice president

Band(school and district honor band)

(A lot of NHS too)

Scholars Bowl

Non-Profit intern and tutor

Part-time job and interpret for parents

(little demonstrated interest)

I applied for Biomedical Engineering. I hope I’ll get admitted in April, but the chance is very slight… but I hope my stats get people some reference… I might write an LOCI and hope for the best.

Deferred EA, GPA below 50% but strong upward trajectory with junior and senior grades within band. US citizen applying from overseas American private school. Strong ECs and I think essay was good. Visited campus and sufficient demonstrated interest. Tulane is one of my top 3 schools so I am not sure if I should switch to Ed2. I know my chances in RD will be low but I will be equally happy at few of the other schools. So far I have case western EA admit.

Little or lack of demonstrated interest is always a problem for Tulane.
