@Charlie2772 – In the case of my S’s friend, he was deferred EA and later accepted RD. He did not convert his application to EDII
@aewlmom Thank you!
Has anyone who is majoring in Psychology toured and met with folks from the Psychology department? We’re planning a tour, but nothing specific to the area my D21 wants to major. Any recommendations? Or is a general tour ok?
@H0llyw00d – The general tour that we took last fall did not go into detail regarding specific majors/departments. However, after the tour, visiting students can sit in on a class (must register in advance) including some in the Psychology department depending on day. Admitted students are also invited to call a current student ambassador (definitely saw some Psychology majors in the group) to chat. Finally, you could always reach out to the admissions office to see if they could put you in touch with someone in the department.
@aewlmom Thank you!
Son Accepted for Fall 2020 with OOS Waiver scholarship
Biological Sciences
OOS(Living out of country) ; SAT: 1510
IB Diploma Pred 38/42
Daughter just got an update on her portal but she’s studying abroad right now and is not home to check it! I won’t open it for her, but I am SO excited!
DHS update. We weren’t expecting it, and that was confirmed.
Both the Paul Tulane and Deans Honors decisions were released today.
My son was accepted on Early Action but has been given no merit, scholarships or financial aid. I guess it sucks to be middle class. Tragically we can’t afford to pay a full ride to Tulane, we would have happily met them 1/2 way. But at $76K pa for an undergradate degree - it’s too much, at least for us. His grades were 32/3.7 which is pretty reasonable with all honors class.
For those who received scholarships and merits or assistance - we wish you all the most success for class of 2024!
It’s really a terrible deal for those who have been responsible and saved for years for college, but aren’t super wealthy…making a bit too much to get any aid, having other kids in college, etc. Its a huge sacrifice to liquidate savings accounts, downsize, etc. I hear you loud and clear. I keep seeing additional scholarship opportunities (not attached to aid) for schools my child has already been accepted to - but most are based on ethnicity, and my student would never fabricate her ancestry to get ahead.
does anybody know when the ea deferral decisions will be released?
@seniorlol – They are rolling. Some have already heard.
Anyone receive an invitation for TRIA?
My daughter did. She decided not to apply - worrying about study load and adjustnent in the first semester.
has anyone that was deferred gotten in?
Son was accepted about two weeks after being deferred. He was admitted to Honors & awarded a merit scholarship.
If one fabricates their race or ancestry (in the past some caucasians from South Africa would say they were African-American, so now schools clarify this by adding “black”) and one gets caught, their acceptance may likely be rescinded.
Gapping students is definitely frustrating, but it is a common occurrence done by many schools. This is not unique to Tulane.
@sb12345 Did your son take any action after his deferral that you feel helped lead to his eventual acceptance?
He submitted the continued interest form & sent a very brief email to his admission representative noting why he did not switch to ED2.
Did you visit Tulane?
