Tulane University Early Decision / Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Any guesses for EA announcement? I’m hoping for Friday?

Yes, I know that box and that language is standard and yes, it is through the Common App.

The point: It is very possible schools can learn where an applicant applied early.

The bigger point: if you accepted an ED somewhere, please do NOT leave other applications open. Withdraw them. Your self-gratification of finding out if you got in some place you definitely won’t be going is dwarfed by the needs of other applicants from whom you are taking a space from.

Feel like they will announce today that it’s tomorrow

My daughter thinks Friday too. But I don’t think she’s got a particular reason to think that. They said it would be no later than January 10th in the “withdraw your application if you were accepted somewhere else ED” letter.

LOTS of schools announce on Fridays. I always had this vision of an admissions person pushing “the button” to send out the email, then turning out the light and closing the door at 5PM on the Friday. Tulane has no such (recent) history of doing Fridays specifically.

I called Admissions. EA decisions are coming out on Monday the 23rd at 11am Central

Which is kind of weird unless they work over the weekend (which they may). If you have the list ready to go at 11AM on Monday pretty good chance you had it ready the Friday afternoon before. But I respect that they’ll send it out at a time when they’re available to answer calls/emails.

I called and was told the same thing: Monday, 11AM CST.

Anyone know when financial aid decisions will come out for students who were accepted Early Decision?

There is a comment in my S23’s Fin Aid portal:

2025-2026 FAFSA - Delayed

Due to initial delays in the U.S. Department of Education’s release of the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), please note that Tulane University will not commence confirmation of receipt of 2025-2026 FAFSA data until late January 2025.

This assumes you’ve submitted the FAFSA, CSS, signed tax return, etc etc…

My experience with their Financial Aid suggest that there’s not a specific date that they release things - they award the packages as they’re reviewed and completed.

If you look at the Financial Aid website, it will list who your Financial Aid counselor is (they break out the student body alphabetically). I’m sure some are better than others but the one assigned to my family has been incredibly responsive to email.

I currently have a Tulane student but waiting on EA for my youngest. I called & they confirmed 11 AM CST on Monday 12/23

Son received email from Tulane confirming Monday 11 CST for decisions!

Got it too

Does anyone know if parents had a very lucrative year financially (sold property with a big gain two years ago), but otherwise would qualify for AID before and after that year, if they should wait to fill out FAFSA until next year, when they won’t be looking at 2023 tax returns, and pay full price this year?

Tulane is so expensive! Any bit helps!

Not sure what you mean about “wait until next year”? From a FAFSA/CSS standpoint each submission year is considered in isolation. So for the '25/'26 enrollment/aid year they’re collecting income information for the '23 tax year. If you had a big year that year and know you won’t qualify for aid I would say there’s no reason to go through the process of applying. Possibly fill out the FAFSA and see what comes back for an SAI as a guide if it’s worth it to fill out the CSS.

Assuming you sold a property with big gain in '23 and sat on that money it’s going to show as available assets to tap into. If you rolled it into a new asset, that’s still going to show as an asset for CSS reporting. Every financial situation is different but unless you took that gain and went to Vegas and lost it, it’s going to be evident somewhere in your submission in out years.

Results are out. Deferred to regular decision.

S25 got in EA. D21 is senior in Tulane now. $160,000/4 year scholarship. Feel sorry for those deferred.

Deferred. 4.0 unweighted, 8 AP classes, 5s on the AP tests she’s taken so far, 1440 SAT, President of the drama club, lots of extracurricular and leadership stuff, and she visited twice. Devastated. And maybe a little surprised.
