EA has come out 12/20 the last few years
Historically Tulane does consider merit scholarships for RD applicant but also be aware that the acceptance rate for RD applicants is incredibly small (1%-2%).
Tulane has stated they are decreasing their ED number to allow more students a chance RD.
Theyve been stating that for several years and it hasnât played out in the CDS numbers yet. Still waiting for those to be published for '24-'25 class though⊠so maybe, but RD is going to remain a long shot.
Since their big gun went to work for NE Boston things are very much going to Normalize at Tulane. Itâs a great school.
Itâs part of the ritual!
You forgot EA
Like someone already said, you forgot the acceptances through EA.
Youâre off a year on reading the CDS. The data thatâs out there right now is '23-'24 which is the class of 2027. They havenât published the data for the freshman class yet.
For the class of '27 they announced on Instagram the day before the RD acceptances went out that they were accepting âalmost 400â from that round. In addition to those that applied RD it would have included any deferrals from previous rounds.
Only the school could give exact numbers around acceptance rate for RD applications but itâs very very low historically. Yes, some have been saying for at least 3 years that theyâre looking to move away from such an ED heavy acceptances but that hasnât been proven out in the numbers yet.
Correct.
I give up
Sorry - I think you feel Iâm knocking Tulane. Iâm not. Itâs a great school. S23 is there now. It just has a very specific path to admissions. They are very yield conscious and only want to admit applicants for which it is their #1 choice.
READ THIS FIRST!!!
Going to put this here from another post, and spread the love you all!
Remember also students who didnât get in, or who are considering Tulane: there is the IDT (interdivisional transfer) from the Tulane School of Professional Advancement to NTC with fulfilling the 6 core requirements:
Foreign Language
Math
Science
English (English 1010 compulsory)
Social Science
Humanities
With a C (or C-) or better
At least two (2) semesters in SoPA (School of Professional Advancement)
At least 18 Tulane credits
Upon completion of such, you will require a deans letter of approval from SoPA, just like going from NTC to SoPA, and you will have completed IDT to becoming a full fledged Tulanian!
Google: Tulane interdivisional transfer, itâll show up under the School of Professional Advancement.
Perfect way to circumvent the normal freshman undergraduate route if you have a year or three of a break from school, and last I saw, you need a 2.0 GPA to get in, send in your transcripts (if you have any), have a high school diploma or GED, and be in good standing where you were previously if you were someone else previously. Not necessarily the 1-3 years break from school. Also, you donât need to break from school, all you have to do is go into the SoPA and work on the transfer process.
They only know what you tell them.
This is the link to the proof: https://sopa.tulane.edu/student-information/policies/general-policies
and its TOTALLY okay to circumvent the normal admission route, AND you donât need to take a gap year or anything!
Good luck everyone, especially if youâre financially hurting, SoPA may be the PERFECT way to start!
Good luck!
A new email from Tulane, asking EA applicants to update their application if they have been accepted ED at another institution. States EA notification date by 1/10.
To me it indicates they are moving right along.
Yes, they send this email every year then usually drop EA decisions around Dec 20
Then for those that get deferred to RD, be ready for the âIf weâre your top choice you may want to consider switching to EDIIâ.
3 years ago, daughter received EA acceptance on Dec 17. There was no email asking her to update (withdraw) her EA application before that day. She did not apply for ED, so does Tulane know if you applied for ED to another school?
Your post had me go look. LOL. No decision here yet. LOL No they donât. But my guess is Tulane wants to know if you have applied and gotten in ED elsewhere so they have a better idea of just how many slots they have to give.
It is very possible Tulane could know where applicants may have also applied Early Decision. My daughter applied elsewhere early decision and she had to check a box acknowledging this on that particular common app application:
"Yes, I have read and understand my rights and responsibilities under the Early Decision Process. I wish to be considered as an Early Decision candidate at [name of institution]. I also understand that with an Early Decision offer of admissions, this institution may share my name and my Early Agreement with other institutions.â
That box is standard - it just means you understand the implications of applying ED. If you later break the ED contract and accept at a different school theyâre leaving themselves room to contact that other school and share that you broke the contract.
Unless it were through the Common App portal - which Tulane uses but not all schools do - they would have no ability to know where someone else applied. Schools arenât inclined to share that kind of information.
