<p>Earlier on this thread someone recommended “Nashville.” I am hooked. My new fav this year is “Monday Mornings” (medical show) and H and I eagerly anticipate “The Following” each week.</p>

<p>Yay - this week we discovered some new epidoses of SMASH on Comcast/On-demand that we had not seen yet ;)</p>
<p>I have discovered Sundance Channel- two offbeat and intense shows. Top of the Lake- set in New Zealand and starring Elizabeth Moss ( from Mad Men.) And Rectify - for adult audiences. Compelling and well acted.</p>
<p>I love Smash, colorado_mom, but apparently we’re in the minority! Prognosis is not good.</p>
<p>DH and I both like Smash. (That’s a surprise. He would NOT try High School Musical). I’m surprised but pleased it lasted this long. </p>
<p>Another series that we caught new shows recently is Revolution (where all lights and power go out worldwide). Very different, but it’s another program we both like.</p>
<p>Mentalist (CBS). They play series reruns on TNT. It’s one of my Favorites</p>
<p>The Americans on FX. Attractive, normal (seeming) couple living in the Washington DC suburbs, circa 1981, with two adolescent children are really undercover KGB agents. In the first episode, an FBI agent and his family move in across the street. It’s well-written, exciting, heartbreaking and loads of fun. It’s already been renewed for next year.</p>

<p>The Americans looked interesting, but with Comcast on-demand we had to start with a mid-season episode. That was too confusing. Any hints for seeing it from initial episode?</p>
<p>I would hate to start The Americans in mid-season and agree that it would be confusing. The series just finished it’s first season run and I don’t really know when they will be broadcasting the next but I’d keep checking the on-demand to see if they have the first one which was titled simply “Pilot”. Failing that you could try Netflix but I’m sure that if worse comes to worst, FX will be re-showing the first series over and over in the weeks running up to the start of the next series. Apparently it was quite the critical success for the network.</p>

<p>i’ll echo the “Orphan Black” recommendation. A very clever new show on BBC America. The lead actress is terrific as she plays multiple clones, each with their own personality. My favorite scenes are when she plays one clone who is pretending to be one of the other clones. Sort of like a “Parent Trap” thing. Only much smarter…</p>
