For those that enjoy British TV,some shows to check out would be the always amazing “Doctor Who” , the semi-related “Torchwood”, “Merlin”,“Land Girls”, “Call the Midwife”(which has actually bested the amazing “Downton Abbey” in UK ratings!) , and the BBC produced but set in America,“Copper”

Great thread! I found many good suggestions, which are now queue up on my netflix account. To add some suggestions…consider “30 Rock”, “Parks and Recreation”, “The Office” for comedy. For Drama, if you didn’t watch it when it first played, “Lost”. And “Mythbusters” always entertains.

Can’t really recommend anything that ABC, NBC or CBS has come up with lately but Breaking Bad is right up there with The Wire for me when it comes to great television. Liked Season 1 of Homeland - lukewarm about Season 2 so far. Love Curb Your Enthusiasm and Episodes.

We like Mythbusters but had not thought to watch in On Demand. Thanks!

Blood and Chrome is coming in February. There is a 12 minute preview on youtube.

Loved Homeland! Watched it via Netflix mail - and H loved it so much he went out and bought Roku which allows for internet streaming on tv. Homeland not available yet but started Breaking Bad last night. Making list of all the great suggestions here!

I just found the series The Event and it seems to be a pretty good science fiction thriller. It only ran for one season though.

I’m always amazed at how many shows fail when they seem like decent shows.

Last summer I complained upthread, “We are still struggling with need to reset the Comcast box to get at On Demand. Some nights it works like a charm. Most of the time we have to do the whole unplug/reboot cycle.”

YAY - It is now fixed. We’ve recently had chronic problems with Comcast Internet signal. After many calls and a modem swap they finally sent out a tech. He replaced a flux capacitor. Also he ran a new line (to be buried by another crew later) since testing showed the old one was damaged. Now the Internet and OnDemand should run better… crossing our fingers!

(Flux capacitor is a Back to the Future joke. The new cable is real)

Yeah, right–I’ve had new cables from Comcast also–most of the time it still doesn’t work. But crossing my fingers for you!

Although I realize you don’t have Showtime, try to rent or buy Homeland. D1 got us hooked on it while she was home during Christmas, and we just finished season 1 last night. Darned football will keep us from starting season 2 tonight!

teriwtt - Our Comcast connections have stayed good for over 9 hours. That’s a recent record for us, but we can’t be sure that things will stay good.

I’ve been really disappointed with the Comcast phone support. But this morning they saw that I had called many times and agreed to send a tech (who turned out to be a lead tech). We had unbelievable scheduling luck … he was here an hour later. He seemed to know his stuff.

He suggested we replace our ancient router (still pondering that), but he didn’t try to blame this problem on it.

Following the recommendation for “Suits” on this thread, it was 2am by the time I could drag myself away from watching every episode of the first season…am not done yet…I love it.

I very much enjoyed Major Crimes (take off from the Closer). They only did a handful of shows last season and are hard to find on On Demand, but they do exist.

I am really enjoying Emily Owens, MD. She just seems so real…

justforthis - Yes, “Suits” is great. DH and I both like it a lot. We are looking forward to the new season in a few weeks.

Uh oh… we were not diligent following the new “Suits” season… and now it seems deleted from our Comcast On Demand listing. Any suggestions for finding the last episodes?

I really enjoy The Good Wife

Comcast has their Watchathon promotion last week and I watched 21 episodes of Game of Thrones in four days. I had seen Season 1 on DVD but rewatched it, all of Season 2, and the first episode of Season 3 - I was very surprised that they had the new episode on their Watchathon the same day it aired on HBO. (We don’t have HBO.)

I love Suits, but don’t understand why they use such raunchy language. I don’t think it adds to the story line.

My new fav is “Monday Mornings” on TNT. A different kind of doctor show.
