TV Show Binge-Watching

I agree with many of the shows already mentioned and would like to add BBC’s The Fall. I don’t think anyone has mentioned it yet. The next one we’re planning to see is Top of the Lake.

The problem with binge watching both Scandal and House of Cards is that I’m getting them mixed up. It’s hard to keep up with who in the White House killed who and who slept with who on each show.

Yes, can we have Cyrus on HOC please?

Very upsetting- Netflix stopped carrying 24 today! I really did not see that coming. We are in the second season and it was great to exercise by. I tried Firefly but too slow. Grrr.

The shows that get me to care most about the characters are
The Wire (in its own league, with tons of characters to care about, but above all, Bubbles),
Firefly (entire main cast),
Game of Thrones (especially Tyrion, Daenerys, and Arya),
Avatar: The Last Airbender (the “gaang”, Zuko, and Iroh; it also got me to cry for the hardships of a flying bison),
Hey Arnold (Helga and Arnold – truly outstanding character development to get me to care about a school bully; The Wire also accomplishes this with Namond),
and Friendship Is Magic (entire main cast, and some ancillary characters who have entire books written about them).

I have seen a few episodes of Friends and How I Met Your Mother, and the characters in those series are instant hooks, but I have not finished the series, so I cannot comment on how well they hold up as the seasons progress.

Without exception, the shows that get me to care about the characters do so by exploring their personalities by showing them having fun, suffering, getting excited about (oftentimes dorky) things, and passionately defending their values in ways that are not essential to their survival or their plot-dictated goals. Personality-driven plot decisions over plot-necessitated personality design.

Now I sound like I am giving advice for writing college applications…

@rockymtnhigh, it appears that exclusive streaming rights for 24 moved to Amazon Prime, so if you are an Amazon Prime member you can still stream all the episodes.

I plan to weed out some shows and surprisingly Scandal is high on my list. I caught up with the last three episodes yesterday and found myself uninterested. It’s moved from Olivia and her gladiators working for a client into soap opera territory. Next someone will have amnesia. I caught myself watching scenes to see how they disguised Kerry Washington’s pregnancy … and that shouldn’t be my focus. Is it just me or is anyone else not liking it anymore?

I have really enjoyed Scandal but I completely understand what ignatius is saying. Things have gotten so dark I’m not sure how they can come out of it.

For Scandal watchers. Assuming you are caught up.
<a href=“11 Things I Learned Being Killed Off On "Scandal"”>http://www.buzzfeed.com/danbucatinsky/what-it-feels-like-killed-off-on-scandal-dan-bucatinsky</a>
I didnt even know they made Spanx for men.

I love Scandal but I’m kind of over it as well.

Here, let me fix that for you:
The Wire (in its own league, with tons of characters to care about, but above all, OMAR)

Interesting and I’m sure no accident that a junkie and gangster were the characters on the show with the strongest moral compass.

I am almost done with season 2 of Scandal and am not happy to hear it goes downhill… I am really hooked.

Ok. Ok. I’m watching The Wire. This will fill all the extra time I have!

I just watched the first season of True Detective. That was one of the most disturbing shows I have ever seen. Great acting and characters though.

I did watch the Wire for about three seasons, but wasn’t motivated to finish.
Some of best shows seem to have a much stronger second season than first, unfortunately they don’t all make it that far, or they are canceled soon after.
Awake, Deadwood, The Finder, Firefly, Pushing Daisies, didnt get to run long enough.

If you come at the King, you best not miss! -Omar

Kiddos and I watched all of The Wire. Daughters and I watched all of sex in the city. And Merlin, sure he spent all his days in the TAVERN! And recently Chuck (love chuck and sarah, and morgan and Col. Casey who is Jane from Firefly) and then Leverage, with a role for River Tam from Firefly and Jane as another col. Eliot is Casey.

And now I am on the last episode of season 6 of West Wing. Never saw an episode while it was actually airing, I missed sooooo much. One season left, so sad…Martin Sheen, Alan Alda, Stockard Channing, Jimmy Smits, Charlie left for Psych and Rob Lowe went to Parks and Rec. Loved Sam Seaborn…I so hope Josh and Donna end up together and Toby finally smiles…such a cranky man. And somebody lets the president eat and sleep!!

I can’t believe what a terrific show it was! After this is either Game of Thrones, Sopranos or Murder She Wrote…

Kat

Or maybe SG1 all over again.

Kat

I just envy anybody who has interest in TV. That would fill a great amount of time and you do not need to look for other interests. All of mine cost us $$ and I keep accumulating them, and one reason is that I cannot watch TV, except that I run it in a bedroom to put me to sleep. “Sleeping pill” TV function works like a charm…except sometime I would wake up at 1am and it is still on…just minor inconvinience.

The West Wing was great, we watched when it aired originally.
Best chief of staff ever.

All I watch atm is The Walking Dead and HIMYM(Well not anymore i guess).
