Twitter hijacks CC on iPad!

My ipad too. I kept opening threads and getting sent to twitter…I do not tweet.

Glad to see it wasn’t just me! I was writing a reply to a forum and I thought my fast finger accidentally touched the twitter icon on the page.

I re-booted my ipad, cleared the history and cache, and still had the problem. I’m on my PC now and the problem doesn’t appear to exist here, but my anti-virus software did stop something from getting through when I clicked to the forum page. Maybe there is an ad that shows up on iPad mobile app that contains a virus or worm?

I’m no longer being redirected to Twitter on my iPad. Problem seems to have been resolved. I’d be curious to hear what was the problem (i.e., web site hacked).

Me too… samsung galaxy nexus hijacked by twitter EVEN after uninstalling twitter. Also kept getting popups to force me to CC mobile app…was driving me nuts. in browser settings i checked use desktop version and cleared history and all cookies and cache and it seems to have stopped… ( for now ) I thought my phone had a virus

Whew…glad I came across this thread. I thought I was going crazy this morning. I have the problem with both the iphone and iPad and I don’t use the CC app.

Just got off the phone with apple did not see that others are dealing with this- they said to contact cc- to get it corrected- I’m so relieved my beloved ipad isn’t infected !!!

Was able to log on with PC

Explain “rebooting” iPad and clearing the history and cache on it. I know how to close all programs it’s running but am not aware how to clear history on an iPad.

Abasket, not sure how on Ann iPad but on Android you hold the power button down when turning it on and it takes you to options to clean your phones cache.

I’m thinking they have something similar.

There is probably a way to do it just for the browser but I like the whole phone option.

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using CC

Settings, Safari

Thanks Iron Maiden - that was painless.

Guess I should do that from time to time.

I had the twitter problem earlier this morning. At 12:30, when I tried to access CC again, the problem was gone, but now, at 12:50 PM Eastern time, it has reappeared. I rebooted my IPad, but it is still taking me to twitter.

I am also still getting rebooted to twitter.

Yup it’s doing the same on my Android OS!

Sent from my SGH-T989 using CC

I have not had my iPad on since last night. I have never signed up for Twitter. Will I still be hijacked? I think there is an APP preloaded on it.

Is “infected” the right word here? Or is there just a problem with the CC page via iPad and it’s CC that has the issue???

Don’t want a mass panic/exodus over CC not working - the word “infected” is a horror in relation to technology!!

(at the same time, I’m staying away from CC and my iPad till we get an update or the coast seems clear)

abaset, I called Apple earlier and hey told me that this is not an ipad issue, they ran a diagnostic on my ipad (apple care great thing).

So it’s a problem with CC. I deleted the ipad safari, cache as explained above, and drats, it’s still redirecting me to twitter

Are you all seeing scene with a mosque in the background and cricket being played, an empty water bottle on it’s side is very visible. Is this the typical twitter screen ???

lorelie- apple said DO NOT SIGN ON TO TWITTER from that screen, or you will give the phishers information and be hacked.

We have verified that our database is now clear of these infections. If any of you are still having problems please ensure you have cleared your browser cache. We were able to connect to the forum via an iPad without re-direction about 10 minutes ago. Please let us know if you continue to see any oddities, though. Thank you for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.

I rebooted my iPad and cleared my history and cookies and seems to be working fine now.

I did, too!! I am so glad that I didn’t have to wait until my husband could deal with it!! Thank you for all of the info.

I don’t know because I don’t use Twitter. But that is exactly what I saw when I was redirected to the Twitter mobile web page. It raised a red flag in my mind when I saw it this morning. I think that the CC web site must have been hacked.
