U of Richmond -Class of 2024 ED/EA

@adancer16 I can’t speak to Richmond’s take on this, but I have heard other college admissions officers say that they like to take deferred kids. They assume that the school is still 1st choice so the student will probably enroll, and it helps the school’s yield.

Accepted! I got a 4.0 UW, 4.5 W at a competitive high school in a college town. I only got a 1380 on the SAT super-scored and took 7 AP classes all of high school but I think my essays and ECs helped me get in.

Accepted - (I go to a fairly competitive public high school from PA), 3.97 UW, 4.9 W, rank top 5% (of roughly 300), very rigorous course load (10 AP and rest were honors), pretty strong ECs (president of student council, other clubs, made states in athletics, volunteering, highest position I can be at my job (coordinator), completed research over the summer, etc.), wrote my essays w/ lots of passion, and my weakest part of my application was my sat (1350), but let it show that continuous hard work > one test score !! I honestly struggled a lot with grasping this concept b/c it’s at the forefront of college admissions. That’s why I’m so proud and honored to attend a school that truly cares about all aspects of their students  roll spides!!

Does URichmond look at SAT subject tests?

There is no place on the spider portal to self report them. So, I’ve emailed them to my regional admissions counselor who said that they were added to my file.

@Falcone11 They don’t require them and they won’t look at them. From their website:

The University of Richmond does not require the SAT II, nor do we consider it as part of a student’s application. See the full list of admission requirements.

The only use for the SAT II subject tests at the University of Richmond is for potential exemption by examination. Students who achieve a score of 630 or higher on a language or listening SAT II will receive an exemption from the University’s Communications Skills II - Foreign Language general education requirement, as they will have met the final intermediate level of the specified language.

Accepted! 6AP classes, 1370 SAT, 31 ACT, 4 on AP Lang and AP bio exam, 3.8GPA, lots of extracurriculars (sports, jobs, internships)

Anyone get their acceptance package yet? Still not delivered for me.

I haven’t gotten mine yet (I’m from Northern VA)

I got deferred and I showed A LOT of interest. did those who didn’t get in via ED get deferred too? or did people get rejected?

Do you think EA really won’t get announced till late January ?

Anyone intl who got in

Applied in RD this fall before dec 1 but planning to shift to ed 2 what should I do? A gap year student and Intl btw

@XIXIR0000 Talk to your regional admission counselor. They might be able to manually move your application over, so that’s your best bet

Applied in ED1 but still didn’t get announced. I am an intl student in a school that didn’t offer official mid-year score reports. My regional admission counselor asked me to provide an unofficial one on 12/05(12/06 my time), so I talked to my teachers and didn’t submit them till 12/09(three days after the results release day). Was that the reason that till now I still didn’t receive any notifications on my ED1 admission decision???

Anyone ED II or know anyone from last year who got in? Curious when you heard. They said 2-15-2020 but wonder if it could be sooner.

While it might be a day or two sooner, I can’t see how it could be much more than that, given the deadline was January 1. I suspect they need some time to review those apps.

Does anyone know when the EA decision is going to come out-- I know they said by Jan 25 but might it be sooner?

@lexikaminski1 I looked thru last year’s thread and it looks like they sent decisions by SNAIL MAIL, mailed out on Jan 18th. No portal update, no email. So my guess is we’ll hear sometime next week.

According to the EA 2023 thread from last year, decisions were supposed to be out by Jan 25, and letters were mailed out on Friday, Jan 18. This year, I’ve heard they intend to try emailing decisions instead of snail mailing them. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but if it is, perhaps the emails might go out earlier than the 25th? Just total speculation, though. We’ll be watching UR Admissions’ twitter account for any clues over the next couple weeks.

Also, if you look back to the ED decisions in this thread, ED1 decisions were supposed to be released approximately 12/15. ED1 applicants received emails that portals would be updated soon, and then on Friday, 12/6, they announced on twitter that portals would be updated later that day. They were updated around 6 pm eastern time on 12/6. Perhaps they will follow a similar protocol for EA? That would mean we should expect an email suggesting we watch for portal updates soon, and portals will update Friday. (Fingers crossed).
