In some other collleges the defferal letters were different from each other. From that it was apparent which one is good lettter which one is bad letter. If we cn also discuss about the content of ltr then we can pre predict if we ll be accepted or not… we cn list our ltrs content here.
@USUG21 Really? I thought they gave all the same letters to accepted/rejected/waitlisted students.
@Lifeissohard I don’t know which to SIR… Does anyone know how is physics & astronomy undergrad programs are ranked in UC system? I’m now choose from UCSD and UCSB.
Does anyone know the number of admitted students from the waitlist who actually got in for regular fall admissions (not just offered January Start, Global Edge, etc.) ?? I’m an international student for L&S btw
@xshadowoflightx I tried looking and didn’t find much. All I can say is that significantly less were offered regular fall admission.
@USUG21 I highly doubt Berkeley would do that (it’s pretty hard considering that they won’t know if they’ll be able to offer ANYONE admission off of the waitlist until AFTER the letter is sent) but I’ll just copy paste the contents of my letter here, and in the off chance someone has something different… well, we’ll see:
Thank you for applying to the University of California, Berkeley. The Office of Admissions carefully reviewed your application, and we are not able to offer you admission at this time. As this is not a reflection of your ability, but rather, a space limitation, we would like to offer you a position on our wait list for openings that may become available for admission for the 2017–18 academic year.
Admission from the wait list will depend on the number of admitted students who confirm their enrollment by our May 1 deadline. After May 1, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will contact only those students who elect to remain on the wait list (opt-in).
All wait-list offers will be made by June 1, 2017.
In order to accept your position on the wait list, please take the following steps:
- If you wish to reserve your space on the wait list, select the link to access the Wait-list Opt-in Form. To be considered for any spaces that may become available, you must opt in no later than April 18, 2017.
- Read the Frequently Asked Questions below.
- Select another college or university that has offered you admission. Send that school your enrollment deposit by its specified deadline.
IMPORTANT: Please remember that reserving a place on the wait list does not guarantee an offer of admission.
If space is available after May 1, all confirmed wait-list candidates will be reviewed as a group. Admissions staff members will offer admission to those students we believe complete the class. If you are offered admission after May 1, you will have seven days to complete your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), pay your deposit, and apply for campus housing.
For information on the Wait-list process, please review our Wait-list video.
I appreciate your patience and understanding and wish you great success in your next academic endeavor. Thank you again for your interest in UC Berkeley.
Finally, for any of those who have submitted their essays…
Did anyone else run into the problem in which on the opt-in form, it deleted all of the paragraph spacings?
Like, when I copy-pasted the thing into the form, it was fine, but when I was reviewing it afterwards, it became a giant block of text…
@astroLyf according to this source, http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/physics-degrees-best-roi/, the UC system rank for BA of Physics: UCB, UCSB, UCLA, UCI, UCSC.
(I don’t see UCSD in the top 25 ranked of BA of Physics.) This was 2014 though, prob there’s an updated one. Not sure.
@guavayogurt I have the same letter lol. Why you think someone will have something different?
@guavayogurt i also hav the same letter.
My essay also looks like a giant block of texts after i copy paste it
It doesn’t matter if you turn in the form early or the last min, right? I still got to have at least two people check my grammar, my college advisor already did so, however, my other college advisor hasn’t replied to my email :(( Better be safe than sorry lol. I have to wait until school starts since it’s spring break. :-/
@Lifeissohard i just saw in some other waitlist thread of another college that someone got off the waitlist. So u btr send ur essay ASAP.
@USUG21 Wait, what college? Isn’t it every college is different ! D: Is it Berkeley?
No no… not berkely… its a diffrent college and may be tht person might be lying
Yeah it’s way too early for schools to let people off the waitlist bc there are still about 3 weeks til the SIR date
I just found this thread today. I too was waitlisted and Berkeley is my dream school. I will submit my essay and form tonight
Here are my stats:
ACT: 32C (35E, 33M)
GPA: 3.95
Major: Economics
State: IL
EC: pretty solid (heavily focused on debate, as is my waitlist essay)
Essays: idk how to evaluate these; they were also very debate focused
Did Not receive LOR request
Just submitted the form with a transcript and essay. Crossing my fingers ;
Does anybody else that has submitted their waitlist form have a big box appear on their portal with the title “Upload Materials?” I attached my transcript in the form and it appears, however it will still let me upload another.
@tigerman333 I never receive LOR request too.
Guys, It;s 1:32 am and still polishing my essay. Oh my, LIFE IS SO HARD!
Can I submit my grades and not the transcript? My counselor isn’t available at this moment. Emailed her like 4 times, never responded back. Do you think it’ll look bad if I submit my grades like fill in the boxes and then no transcript?
Can we find from the official thread how many are declining the offer . … can any of is ask thr…
