@Lifeissohard u r so very passionate towards Cal that i think forces will be with u. However can we know how many hv been waitlisted. How many admitted and whts class size.
@USUG21 Thanks Man; I am trying to ace this essay so bad:( I mean whatever happens, it meant to be. At least we tried lol. All we got right now is last year informations, 55%, not sure how many people opt in I think around 4k and around 2,350 people got in? Not sure the exact numbers, I know it’s somewhere in this thread. However, 2012, it’s acceptance rate is “University of California – Berkeley – 66.5%” https://blog.■■■■■■■■■■■/blog-0/bid/146515/Waitlist-Admission-Rates, and 2014, according the waitlist FAQs 22% got in!!! It all depend on how many people opt in. :l But I think, there was a problem with 2014 admission thing, I think they waitlisted to many people, I am not sureeeeeee.
@Lifeissohard man… berkely is palying safe in its yield … like most of other colleges… they are planning their class size carefully without disturbing their yield… so practically half of the waitlisted ppl wd hv been in admitted list if they dint strategise their yield… so for all practical purposes… many ppl ll not join because of cross admits and cost factor… the waitlist ppl ll get in…
For me the most important factor is time… i am an international…need to apply for visa… need i20 from a college
So sooner i hear better for me… fingers crossed…
Hopefully, what is your major again? I do not recall. But I heard civil engineering will announce the results around April 27-28 and for Letter and science, May 2, however, there are more waves after that, it all just depends … :[ @USUG21
Mine is undeclared engg… the most difficult to get in…
@USUG21 Good luck man. Hopefully, are you planning to go to other UCs? I mean why not applying for the i20 right now?
Last time the first student notified in CC about getting off waitlist was on 23rd april and he was civil engg
I got UCLA UCSD UMICH …CMU. as my top choice…some other i am nt considering… i am zeroing on UMICH LSA HONORS… LL apply and get i20 soon.
@LifeIsShort ^^^^
anyone know if internationals have a good chance of getting off the waitlist? And if pre-econ has a good chance? Bruh I’ve been rejected or waitlisted by all my reaches fml. This is pretty much my last chance ugh.
@pmkkjh Hey don’t think that! There’s hope. According to last year, the waitlist is 55% I am pretty sure international folks counts too, not sure though. I tried googling; however, nothing came up.
@USUG21 Good luck, you got into good schools! I got into decent schools, the lowest acceptance rate I applied to is UCB smh. I am thinking about UCSB, or UCD. I am not considering UCSC tbh; whatever works the best.
@Lifeissohard I would not consider accepting your enrollment at Berkeley if you want to go to medical school and Berkeley does not have a neuroscience program. Here in Minnesota, we look up to UC Davis far more than our own flagship and we only view it as one notch bellow Berkeley. If you want to go to med school, don’t even bother choosing between UC Berkeley vs Davis.
Yeah, I see your point. @Hardzworker
As OOS waitlisted, is there any hope to get in EECS? any data from last year?
@Lifeissohard Yes listing all the good things about UCB is not effective. The admission officers will think like you lot just get these information from all kind of places and put them in here, we don’t need you to tell us where we are good at. I used to do this too I mean, my adviser pointed it out and I tried to avoid it then. I didn’t mention too much good things about UCB in my essay, just two or three, and I specifically talked about one that can be intro to the project I enrolled and further leading to my perseverance in my interest in astronomy. It’s a nice way to write I feel. I don’t know for sure. And… Hey, don’t put that much pressure on you! Don’t stress out! I mean, we still have like a week left so we can take our time and polish it as nice as we can. Good luck your passion will bring and may the force be with you!
@USUG21 I am international student too. Is it so urgent? I mean I don’t feel like my schoolmates around me are doing the forms. When should the forms be submitted usually?
how much money do you have
@astroLyf Yeah, I know. Just two or three examples are good&& Yeah, of course, write what you feel! That’s how people write excellent essays honestly… Writing from your heart is what makes essays good! The four essays we had to do from the original application, I wrote it from my heart, and it was indeed personal. I feel like if it weren’t for my essays, I wouldn’t get waitlisted tbh. My grades are good though, (4.3); however, UCB not really looking for grades since they decline people with 5. They just want unique individuals just like us They do not want people with high GPA’s, with little to no uniqueness in them.
Hope everyone is doing good, and not to stress out doing the waitlist essays! Good luck with this journey guys.
I’ll SIR to UCD real soon:)
Does anyone know what is in the acceptance/ deny letter from the waitlist?
