*****UC Berkeley 2021 Waitlist Thread*****

@USUG21 thanks you’re too kind!

@Maggie1224 I have encountered the same error; however, I trust that it won’t affect the officers’ final decisions, since I believe that most, if not all, opt-ins have the same error.

Best of luck!

What would you guys do if admitted as a January start student? I noticed they changed the terminology on the spring start web page to say that waitlisted applicants are admitted in the spring.

What is a january start ? Whr u read this

Yes it is in thr website. But its written berkely may use the waitlisters to january start… so some may be used for fall 17.

Omgg so I didn’t realize this until after submitting my waitlist opt in form but, my essay was over the word limit by a bit and the last sentence was cut off. I need someone to tell it’s okayyyy :"DD I really hope they ignore the open endedness and still maybe hopefully accept me into berkkkk.

During the earlier waves (late april early may) will ucb send out rejections too?
At this point I just want to know any kind of result as early as possible.

I got waitlisted for Political Science. I am from Colorado. To be honest, I think I got waitlisted because my essays were pretty good and I have a lot of extracurriculars. This goes to show that GPA and test scores are NOT everything. In fact, everyone else at my school who got waitlisted had an ACT score ranging from 32-34 and above a 4.0 weighted GPA. I only got a 27 with a 3.92 weighted GPA. What I think set me apart from other applicants is the fact that I was able to convey a genuine story or thesis in my essays. My essays were cohesive and articulate too.

Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian
School Type: Public

At the time of my application:

GPA Weighted: 3.92
GPA Unweighted: 3.666
ACT: 27 (35 on English and 10/12 on writing though)
SAT: didn’t submit
AP Courses: 10
Extracurriculars: Eagle Scout, Varsity Baseball member, National Honors Society member, Co-Leader of Model United Nations Club, Class Leadership member, Member of my school’s STEM honors program, two job shadows for an architectural design firm and a structural engineering firm in downtown Denver, one internship for a political campaign, lots of volunteering
Awards: Club Leadership Award, Eagle Scout, AP Scholar Award, Artwork in local art show, multiple 1st place Model United Nations State Awards

Accepted: University of San Francisco, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Massachusetts Amherst, California Polytechnic State University
Waitlisted: University of California Berkeley
Denied: Stanford University, Boston University, New York University, University of California Los Angeles (Keep in mind, I applied into Business majors at BU and NYU which are really hard to get into)

@0ffdaboat this is every bodys situation here on the thread. Wht are the options with u. Hav u comitted any whr. From last yrs thread thr wr no rejections in early acceptancea.

oh! I finally submitted the form two days ago. Cross my fingers and pray now. And pray for all you guys!!

@USUG21 I did put in my deposit to my second choice college. but that school’s housing app deadline is may 31st and If I withdraw from the housing I have to pay a ton of extra penalty. I just hope I’ll get accepted or rejected before that deadline.

@0ffdaboat i think berkely ll give results starting after 20th of april to second week of may. So u hv ample time to decide. I went through last yrs thread and found this.

Does anyone know how housing works for students that get accepted off the waitlist after May 2nd, the housing application deadline for Fall enrollment? Can students submit housing applications late?

@USUG21 Thanks for the info!

Answering my own question. According to posts in last year’s thread, waitlist applications who are admitted can submit a housing application by the SIR deadline in their admission offer (one week from offer.) Last year, admitted waitlist students could only select one type of housing preference (“any room, any location”).

Hey guys UC Berk or Emory?

@astrolyf YAY! Congrats aha. I can’t wait when I am over with it! I had to do a senior research essay (13 pages) for this week in order to graduate so I did not have time to polish my waitlist essay even more. I’ll submit mines prob Sunday. I am so terrifeddddddd.

@Parina To be frank, college confidential’s people can’t choose your fate. Make a pros and cons list. Do not rely on strangers lmao. Good luck on your college choice!

What are your grades and test scores?

Has any body rcvd anything from CAL. Thr is only green tick mark that WL spot has been accepted.
