*****UC Berkeley 2021 Waitlist Thread*****

quick question… after you opt-in, in green on the top, it says Submitted: (and a date)… Is this date the date you submitted it? or is it the current date/current status as of today?

I submitted my opt-in form like around 11pm of 4/18… but on the green bar on the very top, it says “Submitted: 04/19/2017” which would mean that it’s late…

Yes it is a late submission.
I fail to understand why someone will take so much time for submission when one knows the deadline …
I think it wont affect yr chance… best of luck

@USUG21 uhhh maybe they were working on their essay portion of it???

either way, if you submitted it on the 18th pst, you should be fine. the date displayed may be when they downloaded it? or something like that. you should be fine though!! if you’re that worried, try to call or send an email @gavarno88

@gavarno88 it’s not late. A student that was on the 2020 Waitlist had the same problem and they actually got admitted in the middle of May.

I think that’s because Berkeley portal operates on Eastern Time. Don’t worry I got the same thing. As long as you submit before 11:59pm pacific time, you are good to go! Good luck!!!

Received the email confirming my waitlist opt in.

I received a confirmation email guys.

Thank you for submitting your Wait List Opt-In Form by the deadline. We appreciate your continued interest in UC Berkeley.

To check your status or to view the Wait List Frequently Asked Questions, please login to MAP@Berkeley. The Wait List Frequently Asked Questions are located in the Application Decisions and Important Updates section.

As a reminder, it is important for you to accept an offer of admission at another university, as this is not a guarantee of admission to Berkeley. You will hear back from us by June 1 whether space is available for you to attend Berkeley.

Sincerely,
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
UC Berkeley

So is it really possible that they start sending out decisions as early as tomorrow?

i doubt it… that would be so soon. tbh i dont think theyll start sending out decisions until like end of april or may… i wish they’d send it out tmr, im dying to know omg

The majority of admittances off the waitlist will come in waves throughout May. The first wave for in state students was May 2nd or 3rd or something like that last year

Did everyone’s essay bunch into one big paragraph? I made sure to space it out with paragraphs, but after submitting it bunched all together. Should I try calling them to see why this happened? I am scared that they will think it was intentional. Let me know what happened with all of yours. Thank you!!!

@uscgirl21 I think that happened to many of us, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. However, you could always just call them and confirm.

@clearglassy When I was reading last year’s waitlist thread, I think several engineering applicants received their admission late April. I’m not sure if it’ll be like that for this year too.

Do any of you know if Cal accepts higher numbers of OOS or IS? I think I am an OOS student and I desperately want to go to Cal. Hopefully all of us on CC will receive admission though

Also, just to pass time, I was wondering if you were given the choice between FPF (either Berkeley or SF), Global Edge and Jan Admission, which one would you choose?

I was talking with my parents, and obviously, my parents and I thought that none of the options were as ideal as just the traditional start; however, I was curious, if you were given the choice, what would you guys choose?

@lostinlife2021 i saw in last year’s thread that IS were accepted most in the first wave, then OOS and international in the second wave, and a handful of people in the third wave.

Also, the ones admitted before May 1st were not ALL engineering students, but only civil engineering students (at least thats what I have gathered from the thread).

I would definitely choose FPF. You can still live on campus and what not, you just have to go a little farther for class for the first semester. Not bad considering that you’re still admitted to one of the best universities in the world.

@lostinlife2021 so to answer ur qn directly i think the IS students will be accepted the most…

Personally i would choose FPF Berkeley cos its actually quite ideal, you just spent few months in smaller class and u will join the rest in January. I guess thats no nig deal for me?? But I am applying for engin so i guess they dont really offer those options to me lmao

@YIN thanks. @USUG21 where did you get that information??? Frankly, that is a low ass admit rate. :frowning:

@USUG21 I’m just a little confused by your stats cause on Cal’s FAQ, they reported that in the past two years (2014-2016), the waitlist admission rate was between 20-54%… Maybe I’m just hopelessly praying that the admission rate will be much higher this year!!

@yin I guess you’re right in that FPF Berkeley being the most ideal situation. I would def prefer that too, but from what I read on last year’s thread is that it is also the option that fills up the quickest… Since you said that the majority of IS people get admitted first, I would assume that chances are OOS and International students will be left to choose between the other options :frowning:

Oh… I didn’t know that Engineering students got different choices… Do you just have the choice between regular admit and Jan admit? Best of luck to you though
