I have an important question. Please someone help me out. If I respond to the SIR (which I assume is accepting the offer, and paying the deposit) is it binding? Or is it only binding once I select the housing and all that?
Thanks!
@uofc32 i guess they would not fault you if you SIRed but do not attend in the end, but you definitely waste a space that is supposed to go to another waitlist student, because when you SIR, they already assumed that you would attend Berkeley.
So can I apply for housing now? Or do I have to find a roommate first? And when is the housing app due?
Did Berkeley email all admitted waitlisted students or did you all manually check?
@BronzeBear - My D got an email.
@BronzeBear Berkeley sends an email telling you that there has been an update made to your application, asking you to check map@berkeley
@bronzebear UCB emailed me that there’s an update, I went to the portal and saw an acceptance letter. Hopefully this awnser your question.
Guys, when is to sign up for the orientation due? It’s not due the day our SIR due right?
P.S: I received a confirmation letter via email for FPF Berkeley! For the people who are concern if they got into fpf Berkeley or not, check your email.
@Habesha7 Man, that’s a full ride!! Plus, UCSB is a really good school! Compare the rankings with your major and ucb major; make a pro and con list, don’t let strangers decide your fate.
Good luck.
@Habesha7 if you want to go to grad school, go to UCSB. That way you can get a high enough GPA to attend a graduate school better than UC Berkeley. Congratulations on your EECS offer. You will be the top of your grade at UCSB.
Did you guys get an email from housing saying “Please verify if you’ve applied for the full year or for the spring semester only on the Housing Options page.”. Does this mean that we just have to check if we’ve applied for the correct term? Or is there a verify button somewhere?
I’ll be declining my admissions offer. So, any Materials Science and Engineering majors out there, there’s a seat that just opened up
When i try to create a bconnected account, it says to correct an error and enter a value for username. Anyone else have this problem?
@SMLR18 i had the same problem…you have to create a CalNet ID first. Then it will automatically use that ID when you create your bconnected email.
I have tried that, but it says admissions sends an invitation first to set the ID up. Did you get an invitation?
@USUG21 I am in-state
Made my cal net Id, Berkeley email, submitted photo for my id… for those who were accepted into the FPF program are we expected to apply for housing?
@Cheeseisbae Thanks for your reply.
So if I understand correctly, “admitted for January 2018” is not equal to “January Start”. “January Start” is just one of the 4 First Year Pathway options, alongs with FPF Berkeley, FPF SF and Global Edge. The limitations mentioned in http://admissions.berkeley.edu/januarystart are specifically for Janurary Start, and do not apply if my S signs up FPF.
My S SIRed to UCSD and intended to do pre-med. The time is really tight to decide whether to switch to Berkeley or not, especially considering FPF may be full before he take actions. Maybe someone can tell us FPF is not ideal for pre-med at Berkeley, then he will be happy to commit to UCSD and free up a spot!
I don’t think January start is one of the FPF. Those are in fall. This fall. January start is default if you don’t apply for the FPF. I was SIR’d to UCSD, and took action for my Berkeley acceptance. I recently applied for FPF yesterday and chose the Berkeley program. It helps to get your American cultures and breadth requirements done! Smaller class sizes so way easier time while getting your first courses done. Guaranteed housing for the next school semester also I believe.
Hey guys, I recently got off the waitlist for Cal but I’ve noticed several problems in my score. I got a 90 instead of a 91 for 9th grade Chemistry second semester. An 84 instead of an 85 for 10th grade math second semester. A 93 instead of a 94 for 10th grade english second semester. A 94 instead of a 93 for 11th grade mandarin. I have just submitted a form to make changes. Will this affect my admission decision? My school’s transcript was really hard to read…
