i’m intended computer science and haven’t heard back either!!

Has anyone doing any sort of ethnic studies heard back yet?
it appears that those intending to major in CS feeling that very few of those came OFF the waitlist, due to CS being more sought after. Curious to know is there any down side to apply to LAS for psychology, english or whatever and after getting admission, taking the classes that are needed to major in CS. If there is no downside in doing applyibg that way, I would say it is unlikely CS intending major are getting impacted. I know people who applied for physics major but now changing the idea…

@cba99 It takes a little bit for their system to recognise that you’ve completed your SIR and stuff. Iit took be about 36-48 hours (I just went to sleep haha) after I completed the payment for my SIR to be able to create a Cal Net ID

Does anyone know how to decline an offer of admission from the waitlist, so that I can free up a space for one of you?

You’re telling me there’s well over 10 of us intending L&S CS on this thread, and none of us have heard back? That’s a little exasperating if admissions proclaim they don’t consider major for L&S. Especially since most of the people who got in for L&S last Friday are within the same intended majors (i.e. political science). It makes you question how students are chosen from the waitlist. And as far as I know, some of you have AMAZING stats/ECs. You all deserve a spot.
Do you think that the admissions officers are lying? (i.e. they do consider major but just don’t want to admit it) That honestly seems pretty plausible to me
@jahvascript - At this time I have more questions than answers. It does appear to me that intended major does play a role in admission at UCB. Not one single person in our group of twelve (and counting) is off the wait list!
@katiemiller - I believe that you could be right. In my opinion, it is definitely a factor behind the scenes at UCB but no one in the admissions office will admit this.
@CS2021 Ugh, I just want us to get in. It would be so nice to meet/study with all of you!
Idk how much of a chance we have now, but I really really hope that next wave takes in a lot of CS
I can’t see any way to decline the admission offer other than to wait until the SIR deadline passes. I was hoping to do it earlier to free up a waitlist spot because I know this wait is excruciating for people. If anyone knows how to decline the offer, let me know.
