Exactly. Also, the poll is supposed to converge quickly. The split is 30/70 when it was in the dozens, but now it’s nearly 50:50. The ones with IDs are more likely to check the poll result again, and to do so, they need to vote again. So it can easily get skewed to a higher ratio.
I meant the timeline. If regents had ID numbers starting with 3041 in february, how can admits in march have numbers starting with 3040 (if they did not do a summer program).
Only logical explanation I can think of is berkeley finalized most decisions in february or the other more obvious one that this astrology might be wrong.
I think most of the acceptances/IDs are uploaded already, but we don’t know for sure so anything could happen from Monday to decision release [Thursday]!
There seems to be some confusion that has already been debunked before so I’m just gonna be restating what has already been seen and proven (via public linnks) that is accurate.
I think the consensus has finally been reached that having an ID is an acceptance. But there seems to be a confusion regarding the specific ID number. These numbers are randomly generated for students depending on multiple criteria. Criteria which we simply do not have the data for to make any educated guesses about. But through past research that has been done over the course of the weekend, it can be reasonably said that simply having an ID is the acceptance. The actual ID would be based on alphabet or other things like that (again this is just postulation as we don’t definitvely know what it could be).
But what is definitive is that having an ID is an accetpance and not having one means you unfortunately were not part of the admitted group of students sent by the dean and registrar to different parties on campus to allow activation of student accounts.
Also I higly highly believe, these “waves” are just copium at best. Hope this helps!
I read someone else in this thread who is an early admit (according to the poster) and has 3040.
This can be the case. When my son got regents from UCSB and was invited to the chancellor’s invite, they said they were still making the decisions for other students. They probably knew who they actually think may be in the top 3-5% and then the top of the top got regents (1-2%). Again these are all assumptions. Please take it with a grain of salt!
can someone respond to this pleaseˆ
yes
has anyone got id for mcb lns?
I am L&S too, and I also dont have an ID yet, do you know anyone with L&S CogSci who already has it?
My kid can see this when he logs in to CalNet. Is this what everyone’s talking about, and am I using the right URL to check?
i applied cog sci & secondary neuroscience and i have it
are you OOS?, also do you think they might upload the rest today / tommorow? Because usually applicants in previous years have said most ppl got their id’s on differing days, leading up to official admission date
no im instate maybe thats why i have it alrdy? im not sure
yes, this is correct! dont think there will be any more large waves but there may be a few people who get their id in the coming days–no guarantee it signifies anything though so dont be too worried
are you sure? last year I heard that it came out usually on monday the day of decisions.
or sorry, the *week of
the week of decisions, thats what ive heard too, that usually most other people start seeing this work on the monday before the admissions are released
My assumption is that Cal is likely in their final admission deliberation, where they finalize their class and students. As a result, it would be fair to believe that those who are borderline are being debated on, which is why some individuals may go from having an id to not (went from admit to reject/waitlist) or go from not having an id to having one (waitlist/reject to admit).
The reason why people continue to mention Monday as the day that ids are finalized may also be because the committee finalizes their class around this time.
So, it’s possible that you will go from having no id to having one at this point, but it is highly unlikely. A very small proportion of the 15,000 admits are going to be getting this treatment.
Also that would mean that no Id in the few days coming to decision (tuesday/wednesday) likely signals rejection
Congratulations! Thursday is gonna be a good day for you haha
