@miahun I can actually understand that, I know a lot of people with awesome apps and great stats that were wait listed. it seems like they wait listed a ton of people this year
When people call, what do they say? Omg poor admissions person on the phone, they probably have no idea why the kid was rejected at all, I would hate having to deal with angry parents.
How do you know so many people called UCSD this year?
My understanding is that they started doing that last year.
@fizzy110 One of my friend’s moms called several schools she got waitlisted from and pretty much just rattled off all of her daughter’s stats, as if it was a sales pitch or something. Sigh. I felt really bad for my friend.
I have received UCSC regents, UCR regents, accepted to UC DAVIS computer science and engineering, and accepted to ucsd (for my alternate major, not my first choice computer science and engineering, which is really competitive). What are my chances to uc berkeley college of letters and sciences based on this information?
@muhnigmofo Has UCSC informed finalists about whether or not they received Regents? In my invitation, they wrote that they would be accepting Regents forms until March 17, and we would find out about Regents by March 23.
From the invitation:
"Please express your interest in FYHP and/or the Regents or Campus Merit Scholarship by completing the brief online application, which will require your Student ID Number listed above, no later than March 17, 2015. Admissions decisions are not tied to completion of this application, nor are scholarship considerations tied to participation in the FYHP.
If you have questions regarding this process, please call our Financial Aid and Scholarship Associate Director, Aprí Medina, at (831) 459-4196. We will e-mail final decisions by March 23, 2015."
Does anyone know if you can change majors before you start going to college (from civil engineering to computer science)? How hard is it to do so being that both are highly in demand? Also how about switching from one engineering discipline to another (civil to mechanical)?
As you can see I am debating these fields a bit so any help to these questions are appreciated.
can anyone please answer my previous question… this is bugging me out
So excited for Berkeley! Really hoping I get the Regents Scholarship on the 26th! Fingers crossed!
How difficult is it to get into Economics major in Berk?
Does it usually select multiple students with the same major in one high school?
Did you get into Harvard SCEA?
Did you interviewed for Berkeley Regents Scholarship?
@desperado3223 In the College of Letters & Sciences, they do not take into account your major. You’re competing against everyone who applied for that college. And for your second question, it depends how strong the students are, which varies on a year to year basis.
3.6 weighted gpa, 3.4 unweighted. 1790 gpa. )Showed great improvement from sophomore to junior year.) 5 APs. Good EC’s, track for all four years of HS, and I have a job. I think my essays were pretty good too but who knows. I applied under the African American Studies Major not because I was trying to pick an unpopular major, but because I am actually interested in the topic. I know my stats aren’t that great but I am still hopeful. (I am a black female.) Anyone with similar information to mine? Comment back, I’m nervous!!!
@trackgirl916 Did you receive and submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for further review from Berkeley?
@awesomesauce8312 Did you apply for any Cal Alumni scholarships? I received a (general?) reminder that my scholarship was still being considered and that I’d receive notification of my status early April.
@ocbruins Nope I did not… do people who got one have a higher chance of getting accepted?
I got one, but I’m not sure it’s related
whats the chance of getting into the Cal if you got likely letter for UCLA??
@Collegeappkid21 all the UCs look at individuals separately from each other and do not share that kind of information between campuses. Basically, a likely letter from UCLA has no impact on your chances of getting in at Cal. UCLA didn’t send out the engineering likely to many applicants, I guess that could symbolize that you are in the top range, but then again you never know!
Also the other campuses won’t know that you have gotten that letter from UCLA so it doesn’t effect anything really!
