Thank you @Collegeappkid21, it’s good to know.
I was rejected to ucsb. Might appeal though. Even more anxious now. My older sister tells me I need to stop going on this website because it makes it worse! Lol
@trackgirl916 Not necessarily but its used by some of the UC’s to get more information from certain applicants. Only about 5% of the total applicants for Cal will receive the Supplemental. There are three categories with different sets of questions: 1) Disability, 2) Academic hardship/special circumstances, 3) Special Talent. Seems everyone who mentions a disability on their original app will receive the #1 Supplemental. Those that are academically borderline and mentions any hardship or circumstances will receive #2. #3 are for those who mention a special talent on their original app. My opinion is that the #3 is also sent for those that have something on their app that caught the attention of Cal admissions but with stats that may not be inline and they don’t fall into the #1 or #2 category. Either case these are designed to give the applicant a chance to further their case for admission. They are asked several questions based on the type of Supplemental, senior fall grades, senior spring classes, and an letter of recommendation. It’s my understanding that this does not indicate a higher chance of acceptance. Only that it gives the applicant an opportunity to add to their original app. Suppose you could view it as very positive for those that may have stats that are lower than the typical Cal standards.
I discovered I had a learning disability at the end of my junior year, and mentioned that on my application. I was requested to fill out the disability questionnaire and a talent one as well for volleyball. I have a 31 ACT and an unweighted 3.6 gpa, and killed it semester 1 of my senior year (4.6 W gpa, straight As). Given this, do people think the supplements would help me in my case? Since I get to explain why my gpa isn’t as high as it could be (if I would have known of my disability I would have been able to get straight As since freshman year like I did senior year semester 1)? @ocbruins
Hay guys, you seem to be very good at this stuff. Can you please chance me
I applied to the college of Letters and Sciences, Biology to UCLA and Berkeley. I got wait listed at UCSD, accepted to UCSB, and straight up rejected from UC Davis.
SAT : 2110
Unweighted GPA : 3.75
UC GPA : 4.25
The thing that is astonishing to me is that I’ve been president of speech and debate for 3 years, started a non-profit (President) organization that tutors orphans in India for 3 years (have been recognized by Times of India), Treasurer of Biology Club, Historian of Leo Club both for the last 3 years, FBLA for the last 4 years, CSF, and volunteered at the local Alzheimer’s Center since the 7th grade. My first essay was about losing my best friend in a car crash my junior year and how it affected me as a person and my grades. My second esssay was about a clinic I held in India for the children apart of my non profit organization. Also I am a tutor at Mathnasium for the last 2 years. Can someone tell me if I have any chance at UCLA and berk? I’m disheartened from getting straight up rejected from davis and waitlisted at SD. I really think I don’t deserve ucsb. Thank you all
little over a week ahhh
hahaha weird day to release decisions, because then I’d have to face my friends in school the day after. I don’t really feel like being pestered with questions, especially if I don’t get in
@TanTheeta I feel ya, basically my biggest worry in all of this = having to admit defeat. I know I shouldn’t be ashamed of rejection. I guess it’s something I’m gonna have to work on if I wanna survive in this world.
Hey has anyone gotten an email saying when we would hear from Cal? I’m just wondering. I haven’t been contacted from them in a while and I’m wondering if they have my right email.
the release date is march 26. i never got an email from them but it’s on the portal
@nat97xo thanks!
march 26 3 pm
will it be released online or will we get an email? I assume that’s PST?
online? and then email a little later i think… yeah PST
Yes I would say it would be on the portal first and probably 1 to 3 days later there might be an email. Though for rejections I dont think they send out emails.
@chocolateswag Assuming you were able to explain your situation with the disability and completed both supplementals, I have to say you have a great chance. One of the things they really want to see is improvement in your senior fall grades and it looks like you did just that. Berkeley seems really unpredictable as far as what exactly they look for. This can be a good thing (for those with lower stats) or a bad thing (for those with high stats). Just a waiting game now to see the result. Good luck!!!
I’m waiting on UCI and UCLA… got rejected by UCSB and UCD and GeorgiaTech. Got into UCSD and UT Austin. So what are my chances? like one in 100000? or a couple of zeros more?
@dana267 Rejection/acceptance to one UC does not necessarily correlate with acceptance/rejection to another!
@dana2
Have Hope!! I got wait listed at both UCSD and UCSB (my dream school), but accepted to both Irvine and Davis. Congrats on UCSD and good luck!! The UCI decision just came out for me, maybe for you too? I’m thinking you’ll get in based off of UCSD but it can be unpredictable
@dana267 Well you got in to UT Austin which is s really good school and has a 5% acceptance rate for OOS students, so congrats!
