***UC Berkeley Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

i just signed up for FPF im scared the space would run out even though im still deciding :confused:

Cal won’t let us make our @berkeley.edu email until Monday right?

International student from Eastern Europe accepted!!! L&S. Plan to study CS. Was rejected from UCLA. Would definitely choose UCB over UCLA if I had to choose. So its a win win
SAT: 2050 (CR 550, M 750, W 750) pretty damn low because of critical reading
Math II: 770
Physics(didn’t send): 680
EC: very good. Startup/ clubs and organizations/ charities But nothing too crazy. Didn’t establish a $1M company, or went to Africa to fight ebola. Nothing like this. But still some good participation in charities and a moderately good tech startup founded.
Personal statement: both good. Talked about my family/community and helping others in the first one; about my startup and its impact in the second)

Guys, don’t be scared to apply, and to try to do everything you can to make your app and your achievements look as fancy as possible. You don’t need a killer SAT score or an Intel ICEF prize to get in (I guess you need for Stanford, haha. Got my rejection today :smiley: )

I hope this helps somebody one day!

GO Bears!

Has anyone trying to appeal the decision? I clicked the link and it said"ADODB.Field error ‘800a0bcd’

Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

/myberkeley/student/BuildPage.asp, line 1260" Anyone else getting this?

Hey guys I have recently been admitted to the college of chemistry for uc berkeley. Does that mean I’m allowed to choose any of the majors offered in the college of chemistry (chemical engineering, chemical biology, chemistry)? I applied for chemical biology but I’d like to do chemical engineering

@kcheese so weird, we have the same numbers, every single one of them

I was recently admitted to college of engineering at UCB!
Major applied for: Material science and Engineering
I did IB diploma with 4 HL subjects and 2 SL subjects
GPA: 4.21 out of 4.33 (weighted)
SAT: 1900
Rejected: UCLA and UCSB
Accepted: UCB and UC davis
Extra curricular: Intern at EducationUSA/US embassy, House captain, and much more
:slight_smile:

I asked this in another thread too but in case it is better seen here… :

Hi,

I’m an international student who did the IB and is going to do ChemEng in Berkeley College of Chemistry, and I want to ask about credit transfer. By my calculations, my IB exams alone should net me 35.9 Credits (20 credits for getting above 30 for IB and 5.3*3 for 3 HLs with more than 5 points in IB) (Websites I got info off listed at the bottom).

How exactly do these credits help me in my degree? Do they help to satisfy the breadth credit requirement (19 Credits)?

@Storian‌ I already made mine! It’s possible!

Hey guys. Just wondering is the college of chemistry hard to get into (what’s the acceptance rate?). Also, for the college of chemistry which major is it hardest to get into and which major is it easiest to get into (chemistry, chemical biology, chemical engineering)

Does anyone know when acceptance packages for UCSB, UCI, UCLA, or UCB come in the mail?

@coolflip01‌ I got my UCI package early March.

Posting this kind of late but I found out I got Regents! Yay!
Are any other Regents Scholars here planning on attending the April 17th ROHP?

@frozens

What other schools have you gotten into so far?
I saw that you got into Harvard SCEA.

@coolflip01‌
Just got my UCLA packet today. Their fancy magazine-like spread came in a yellow plastic folder.

I went to the Bruin Bound International event here in my hometown, we got the admission packet on-hand there too!

@StevenToCollege‌ I applied to eight schools and was accepted at Harvard, USC (Trustee), UC Berkeley (Regents), UCLA, UCSD, and UC Davis (Regents/Honors College). I was waitlisted at Stanford (I declined my spot on the waitlist), and I will hopefully hear from Yale tomorrow!

@frozens

So have you decided where to go yet?

Rejecteddddddd. its weird im both surprised and not surprised at all. it was my first and only rejection, so i guess thats why i was surprised. i got into ucla though, and ive heard alot about how people usually only get into one or the other, not both, in which case i am EXTREMELY happy i got into ucla and rejected from berkeley, cause i dont even like berkeley hahahah. i wasnt gonna go there either way, but rejection still stings. anyways i got into ucla, ucsb, uc davis, cal poly slo, uw seattle, uc santa cruz with honors and merit scholarships, uc irvine.
