UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

@kornido That’s the last promo email I received from them too

@kornido But UCD and UCR didn’t send me any promo emails of any sort and I got regents scholar for those schools, so I doubt it means anything. Don’t worry yourself over nothing and just wait till the day comes.

@kornido i got that too! trying to not let it get my hopes up though

For anyone who gets in, is there anyone here who plans to do the Global Edge program?

@educationforever I filled out the Global Edge forms. Would love to spend the fall in London then go back to Berkeley for the Spring. Worried about the housing though since it is not guaranteed.

@EducationForever I’m probably going to opt for UCLA over Berkeley, but I do plan on doing a study abroad program there if that’s the case.

@WaitingforGodot4 honestly I’ve had the same worries about housing. I’ve been looking into Co-Ops cuz they are cheaper and if I went there for the summer it would increase my chances of doing it for the spring too. I’ve still been looking through all the possible options though, and am still worried about residence housing haha.

What are the chances for a Friday release?

@Dovahkiin012200 Unlikely. It’s says 3/29 as the decision day on their website.

rip my last email was feb 10 about applications being under review

If UCB does same as they did two years ago, there will be an email going out today about FPF. The email will also state admission decisions are just a week away. My S is in his 2nd yr at Cal, and this is what he got exactly 7 days before decisions were released.

@kornido will everyone who applied get the email?

@Caligirl24 Only L&S applicants (some or all?) should get the email as FPF is only available to L&S students. My son got in FPF and he got the email. So if they send the email this year and you’re L&S and get it, take it as a neutral to quite possibly positive sign.

I don’t want to sound stupid but what’s FPF?

@noel334 FPF is “Fall Program for Freshman”, one of the alternate pathways offered. https://fpf.berkeley.edu/

@kornido if you don’t get it you don’t get accepted? When you’re in L&S

@noel334 My S’s experience is he got an email about FPF, and that’s exactly what he ended up doing (after getting in via waitlist). If you are in FPF, you ARE accepted. In Fall, you just take half your classes 2 blocks from campus and the other half ON campus. You have the same privileges/benefits as all the other non-FPF students, including access to housing.

So are decisions due in tomorrow (third Friday of march, historically) or March 29th? On or before could make it either way

Or maybe like some other UCs, decisions will be accidentally leaked early…
