@84stag I agree
Omg I have 4 too! I’m shook.
I have 4 addresses, what does that mean?
Are all four addresses identical though, or different as some have mentioned? Like the 5+4 zip on only 2, and Road/Rd?
S has four addresses today. He had two yesterday. FWIW, I see “Mailing Address” and “Permanent Address.” Each heading has two sets of addresses. The sets under each heading are identical, but in each set one says Dr. and one says Drive. Both have the full xxxxx-xxxx USPS zip code. What do we think this signifies? Also, we did submit the FAFSA, but wouldn’t qualify for anything other than the standard Stafford, and S did not get “the email” on Sunday.
From an earlier post by @Chrisq1
“you have your permanent address and your mailing address on the MAP right? They are probably the same too like mine was but it doesn’t matter. What matters is that later on, the MAP will update and add another set of your mailing and permanent address on the MAP page if you got accepted. Essentially it’s their version of your address because they like confirm it and then use the version that they wrote. Like for example on my application it was like lowercase and my street name had court in it. Like two days before I got in they added another set and like made it more formal I guess and it was all in caps and instead of court they used ct for my address. When they mailed stuff to me this is what they put on. So basically if you get 4 addresses that is a good sign”
Basically: if everyone has the 4 address thing, then it’s vain.
If some people have it, and some don’t. Then it supports the theory that Chris stated.
I only have 2 addresses. I am not holding my breath for acceptance at this point. Every school I thought I would get into has not accepted me so I know UCB is not happening.
@mclmom Berkeley doesn’t not send denial letters. All I know is that they send packets.
That’s what I’m assuming. We have a portal for reason.
@and2018 Please don’t worry about it. This is all just speculation. We will find out in a couple days. Let’s please let go on the login, email, and addresses themes. The die is cast, and we just have to wait for official notification.
@cxprus May be true, but perhaps they are just getting every account ready for any packet that might be sent - it would be a lot easier for a computer to update some accounts rather than all of them. And you still cannot tell whether accounts who have not been updated, but which have the USPS form of address with 9 digits, etc., are not updated because there was no change to the address … or because they are not getting a mailing. So it is a data point that likely has little correlation to admittance.
sorry - I meant update all accounts than try to make the computer just update some.
just to end the whole speculation thing, while i dont have 4 addresses, my 2 addresses have road as ‘RD’ and my whole zip code with the extra digits, what Chris said would come second as the second set of addresses.
@mclmom I mean one of posters said that two days before their decision was received, the portal updated with the four addresses. Eventually, got in.
So that’s why everyone is spectulating because it. The truth will come out Thursday.
@AviSaxena33 I have the same as you. Exactly no abbreviations and entire 9 digit zip code, so they wouldn’t update something that is already correct
I originally already had the 9 digit usps thing . But i still have 4 addresses just btw. Still tho i think u are right, there shouldnt be any correlation between this and acceptance/rejection
I had two addresses this morning before school and 4 addresses now after school. I am not sure if this means anything but will update after I know my acceptance, rejection or waitlist from Berkeley. So future applicants can use it for something to do while waiting.
I do feel like we are all in a bad version of Waiting for Godot this year. I only hope you all remember you can be amazingly successful regardless of this years insane college decisions. One of my friends was accepted to Oxford and rejected from his safety schools this year. Good luck everyone!
This was there response to a tweet about it…“Decisions will go out on Thursday and do not correlate to your address(es) on the portal. If your address is incorrect on the portal, you can adjust it to reflect your correct info. Thank you.”
Yes, that is what I thought. If I had to infer, the only t hing that ‘may’ indicate admission is the fact that some people’s status on calnet is still pre-sir whereas a lot of others changed to not registered, which, in the grand scheme of things and acceptance rates makes sense.
