UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

anyone know what time Thursday?

Is anyone still pre sir? My friend who got the financial aid email got changed to not registered

@omidd 4pm PST

I don’t think anyone has PRE-SIR now.

Are there out-of-state people who get waitlisted at UCLA but get accepted by Berkeley?

Some people have the shortened version of Drive(Dr), but still only have 2 addresses

No one should have PRESIR now that the deadline has passed to register for classes. Technically now, we aren’t “Students with intent to register” since registration is overdue.

@AviSaxena33 I have 4 addresses and my original had drive as Dr, and I had all the extra digits on my zip code. So I don’t think there’s a second wave of changes?

Strange to think that in less than 4 days all our application responses will be in.

Good luck everyone.

@cutiepie679 where did you hear 4pm? On twitter yesterday they said by11:59 pm. (Which stinks btw)

Yeah they said that by the end of the day on 11/29, some might get it early other might not, but they should all be out by 11/29 @ 11:59pm

I aint gonna wait until 11/29 doe

How would you check before, if we already came to the conclusion that the cal central thing is not really reliable?

What more does it take for the UCs?

Honestly, the UC’s are being super picky this year, mostly the lower level ones, it seems that they want a diversity of students both in ethnicity and in academics/extracurriculars

I know many of you are antsy, but please don’t mess around with various attempts at getting an early look at your outcome. There was a big scandal about that kind of thing in 2005 and the repercussions were tough. Just wait a bit longer…

@anidad I think that unfortunately CS is one of the most competitive majors and having strong grades is only one piece of the equation. Taking more APs does not equate to better chances. I think admissions are looking for kids with a devoted passion to something and showing that through ECs - such as job or volunteer work or national/state awards. But I will say that with CS being so impacted, there is no magic formula. good luck with the rest of the decisions.

I have to agree with @LvMyKids2 because CS is very impacted, and honestly that goes with all impacted majors and non-impacted majors because colleges want people who don’t just have good grades but go beyond that and pursue their passion doing other things (EC’s).

anidad, your stats are superb. You should have been accepted at all UC’s. I am surprised you got waitlisted or rejected by so many of UC’s. I see your frustration. Maybe you should have applied at Ivy’s, Standford or MIT. You may have better chance there. Did you apply at any of these private colleges? Best of luck to you for UCB!

I see that Anidad has strong EC’s as well. I do not think it has anything to do with impacted major like CS. I saw a lot of applicants with much weaker stats and EC’s getting accepted at so many UC’s including UCLA, UCSD, etc. So, I am completely puzzled by his case. Unbelievable!
