assist.org is only for community college? i think its different for dual enrollment classes since it was taken at a university?

It should cover CC, CSUs and. UCs. But I don’t think it will cover private universities as they likely do not have articulation agreements with the UCs. In that case, your first step would be to make sure that the class in question is UC approved and then likely will need to speak with either the advisor or perhaps registrar(?) on what it could fulfill. It is a little tricky if there is no formal articulation agreement with UCB (which would be the case with a private or OOS university).

my bear just submitted a change out of Rausser into L&S. How long does it take for them to know if the transfer has taken place?
thanks

deadline to add or drop says Feb 7th. My bear added a class Feb 6th, was charged a 5.00 fee, does anyone know why this is?

A late add fee of $5 per course is charged to students who add classes after the Friday of the third week of instruction.

I know the girl you were talking about. She faked her First Gen, the main reason she got in Cal with Regements Scholarship…

Question on taking summer courses with community college, my bear was told that although she will get units transferred for the class, the letter grade will not apply to her GPA. If she was to take the summer course with Berkeley then it would. Any one has thoughts on this? pros and cons of taking the course at community college?

Community college is likely quite a bit cheaper, if that’s a consideration.

cheaper much but if the grade doesn’t reflect the GPA is it worth taking?

I would take non-major courses at a CC since the equivalent is always harder at Cal.

but Major courses at Cal or summer Cal? its a math class

Major courses - I would take at Cal. Some classes are considered easier in the summer (historically CS70 for instance) since you can focus and Berkeleytime showed slightly better grade distribution. Honestly, I’ve not seen major differences. Whats the course #?

I would take a major course at Cal especially if future courses may build on the material.

Math 53 class # 13911 for summer

Note that that’s a web-based course at Berkeley this summer. My D22 took math this past summer (via a CC) for reasons outlined above (cost, presumed difficulty level), and also because the various school-year teachers all had notably poor scores on RateMyProfessors. Unfortunately, her CC course was also web-based, and async, and it threw her back into COVID-era zoom school vibes, which were … not good. Math was already going to be a bit of a challenge, and async/online really threw her.

If in-person instruction is important for your child, I’d encourage paying attention to how they can get that in-person connection, wherever they take it.

my bear does well with online instruction. She is well aware and wanted to take for flexibility in her schedule. Did your bear get a letter grade transferred into her Cal GPA for that course she took at CC? We were told it doesn’t apply to her Berkeley GPA , only the credits transfer

This is correct. The credit transfers but the grade will not be part of your UC GPA.

(Just echoing @worriedmomucb: credits counted; grade did not get factored into UC GPA)

This is true for all the UC’s unless a course is taken at another UC, then the credit is given and the grade is factored into the UC GPA.
