hey everyone. i was originally gonna go here but then got off the waitilist for ucla. I committed there but didn’t decommit from berkeley until a few days later. During that time, I got an email from the UC system telling me to decommit from either berkeley or ucla by JUNE 6th, and I decommitted from berk. Idk what this means, but it could mean berkeley could start admitting people after june 6th, but im just speculating.
Congrats and thanks for that, really! I would believe that too, and since it is one of the only pieces of info we got, we might still stay hopeful and see what comes next.
Btw, if u don’t mind me asking, what was your intended major at UCB?
did anyone join the virtual front desk today?
Doubt it would help since they want to gatekeep information for god knows why.
did you guys see the new tineocollegeprep video? he said this year might be like 2022 where they didn’t roll until mid-june and only took 44 people off the wl. he also said its useless calling them up bc of their canned responses
While the outlook doesn’t seem too positive, I just wanted to remind you that Berkeley is just yet another overcrowded and hyper-competitive public school with a lot of flaws. Really, the only thing that makes me want to attend this university is the name brand, and I’m sure it is a similar case for many others. Nothing else appeals to me personally, from the culture to competition and to the overall pretentious and elitist vibes I get from people who go there and from my own friends who were just admitted.
So I think it’s best to really love the university we are currently committed to and I’m certain that wherever we are headed has things that even Berkeley can’t beat. I can only wait for so long and it’s only good for me to stop waiting by my own interest so I’ll be withdrawing my WL spot so I don’t have to think about it again. Good luck to the rest of you.
The date is just a system generated date to ensure that all UCs have a correct estimation of their enrollment numbers. The first wave of UCLA waitlist admits got a similar email from the UC system with a May deadline to withdraw from either program. Berkeley however, should take students off the waitlist as anecdotally several kids have declined their offers.
Just watched the video. Bro completely forgot that he once said Berkeley underadmitted.
This housing contract language makes it sound like Berkeley’s yield rate was higher than anticipated, since they are converting dorm lounges into temporary overflow housing.
Might explain the minimal (non-existent?) movement in the Berkeley waitlist so far.

thanks! i was applied math at both
nooooo ugh i hope that doesnt mean nobody gets off
wait i just read the comments they said it happens every year lol, it’s not specific for this years yield rate so i wouldn’t worry
why would he even say that in the first place
wait omg im waitlisted for applied math
hi! i’m currently committed to ucla for applied math as well but hoping for berkeley. could i ask why you chose ucla over berkeley?
Exactly. Now I don’t trust anybody.
I am applied math and I withdraw from Cal last week FYI
withdrew from Cal to go out of state to another school
good luck and congrats! i hope this means good news for some of us too
[Redacted b/c I got fooled]
