Multiple people from CC to Reddit have said they know people who got off for chemistry and are international. About 10 people got off but only about 1 in 10 people are actually responding or posting so we arrive on an estimate of 100 people. Also they are L&S not college of chemistry.

I don’t know if there’s a lot of chemistry major getting off but they’re certainly L&S. I know global studies and Econ major got off of waitlist in L&S

I’m looking at the number of L&S chemistry degree recipients. It appears that 7 students received this degree in 2023, unless I’m reading the data wrong? It seems unlikely that close to 100 students would be admitted off the waitlist for this major specifically. OPA – University of California Berkeley

I don’t really see anything in Reddit, either. One or two people saying “I heard some international people got off” and one, maybe two people on each platform (could be same two people) saying they know someone, but no one that I can see saying they themselves got in. It’s hard to extrapolate from these forums, but I would think the portal-astrology forum would be pretty hot if 100 people got off. If the third-hand rumors are true, it’s more like a dozen.

If the split is mandated to be 18/82 then “priority going to IS” doesn’t make sense to me. They can start WL backfill in parallel until they reach 18/82 committed split. Doing them sequentially doesn’t help them (or us)
