Why would they bother sending a message to accepted students (assuming due to the fact the letter is signed ‘see you in the fall’) to let them know there won’t be any more waitlist offers? Wouldn’t they just send this to waitlisted students?

This makes no sense.

My daughter’s school accepted 4 students, and 3 rejected them. They are all in-state students, so their yield curve will not be very good. I think they will definitely admit many students from the waiting list.

Not on the Berkeley waitlist, but this is insane!! How can they not offer admission to any IS?? Hoping the best for all of you!

Really bummed but two odd copes about this video:

  1. She is a private counselor why would they send this email to just her?
  2. The Email came after Memorial day but then says in the beginning that they will moniter the next couple weeks and possible close after June 1st? (this is a couple days away not weeks)
  3. Wheres the date on the letter

Maybe we can call Cal admission office next week and find out if this letter is true or not. Looks real though.

That’s my impression too that their yield is not that high. Who knows. Maybe they just made a lot more offers

wait just realized how can they monitor melt in the next couple weeks when melting means people who committed but don’t attend in fall? Shouldn’t that be indicated in the beginning of the school year?

People would do anything to get a few minutes of fame online. So unless we hear from UCB directly I would just scroll past them.
But if this Iris person is really telling the truth she will never hear from any UC officer again and this Jocelyn person may actually face disciplinary action leaking sensitive information to private individuals. So in short this seems fake. Have a restful weekend folks.

Read it again - the email is inconclusive.
Why would the AVC take the pains to blast it to thousands of counselors when they themeselces admit “they will know soon”.
