Do any of you guys have a link to the “undergraduate admissions update form” in your portal? I contacted the admissions office about a small error in my self-reported transcript and they told me to submit the update form which I could find in my portal but I see no sign of it.

Should we visit Cal this week during “dead week”, before finals start next week or can we wait to visit this summer if/when D24 gets off the waitlist?
We have not spent much time at all on campus and anticipate hearing about waitlist sometime in late May through July.
I am not sure if summer sessions have a significantly different vibe or if it’s wise to visit during regular session to get the real feel of what cal students are like and how the campus feels. She wants to see if she “fits in” with the campus culture. She wants a healthy mix of academic and social. She does not seek cut throat competition- she will study humanities. It is an easy drive to campus for us.
She has committed to a school that she is super excited about so part of me doesn’t want to confuse the process by visiting a WL campus.
However, I also know she will only have 7 days to make a WL acceptance decision and know it will be a very tough one so I want her to have enough information to make that decision if and when the time comes.

I think you can wait to visit this summer. If she gets off the waitlist, come visit then. The campus isn’t quite as busy during the summer, but it’s not completely dead either, since summer classes are in session. My son is a tour guide and he says they also give lots of tours in the summer and it is a busy season for them!

What day did he get off of he waitlist and for what major? Congrats to him, hopefully he can give me a tour this summer!
He was accepted last year from the waitlist on May 8 in his first choice major, materials science & engineering (in COE).

The commitment deadline this year is a bit later (May 15th) so we’re likely to only see waitlist movement after then.
What I find interesting is this section on the UC website:
“A May 15 commitment deadline for first-year students will allow UC campuses to admit additional students promptly through the waitlist process if needed and not prolong the uncertainty of waitlisted students any longer than necessary.”
I take this to mean we may see an expedited waitlist process but the vague language may just be meaningless.
Either way, I’d say to expect a first wave around May 22nd with more to come later in the month and throughout summer.

How did UCB notified your student off waitlist? Do college usually call or email students about waitlist decision?
He was notified in an email from UCB with the subject, “An update to your UC Berkeley application.” The email directed him to check the portal for an update.

congrats to your son btw!! when he was notified last year, was it like during the morning or the afternoon or perhaps evening? like around what time, thank you!!
After 3PM (maybe 3:15 or 3:30 PM); I think most of their decisions come out around that time of day?
Honestly though, it’s probably best not to focus too much on waitlists. I wish everyone good luck in this process, but also wish for you to be excited about the acceptance where you’re currently committed or committing

Sadly, in our case my son was only waitlisted to the schools he applied. So when folks keep saying to focus on the schools that love them or committed to them not all students have that so waitlists are a very big deal to some.

He was waitlisted to the schools he applied to. He will attend community college and transfer if he doesn’t end up getting in. My point is let’s not minimize the “wait” since some of kids on waitlists may not have acceptances to fall back on. Just a friendly reminder. Thank you sharing the info.
