UC Berkeley Portal Astrology Discussion 2024

could also be that only not authorized people visited the incorrect link (admitdotberkeley.edu/)

also a possibility fr
conclusion: heavily doubt this method is viable
only the forbidden/ID methods seem to have truth to them

FALL PROGRAM FOR FALL SEMESTER is not one of the indicators. I believe that all L&S applicaints have it.

We’re back, is there new indicator discovered since yesterday? Thank you.

supposedly if you went a specific link
you would be able to see an acceptance message

however, that indicator is believed to be false because everyone with forbidden + ID only got ā€œaccess deniedā€ but if you accidentally typed the link wrong youd get a generic acceptance message everyone could see

so most likely a false alarm

Could you please let me know the link? We’re tech guys, might be able to figure it out. Thanks.

not following good statistical practices here, but i’ve found an around equal number of people at my school getting forbidden as those that got into ucla (4 for both). though i’ve only asked 5-10 people about the forbidden trick, and i’m likely to hear about almost all the ucla acceptances from my senior class, so there may be more forbiddens that i haven’t heard of relative to the number of ucla acceptances i haven’t heard of. on the other hand, the 5-10 people i asked were a very biased sample, so there probably aren’t that many more forbiddens. so the actual number of forbidden in my senior class is probably close to the number of ucla acceptances, so take that for what you will

applydotberkeleydotedu/portal/admitted-student is the original link
admitdotberkeleydotedu is the link we think they saw

probably the best evidence we have for this trick working the same way it’s worked the last 2 years is that the straw poll of forbidden vs. not authorized got similar results this year as last year, 38% and 33% forbidden, respectively

i see
me personally I was accepted UCSD, Davis, and Riverside, yet rejected Irvine and UCLA, but still got the Berk ID (starting with 304) and forbidden
was applying for MEB at rausser tho

that and early admits seeing forbidden supposedly

that wouldn’t exclude the possibility of forbidden including waitlists, since waitlisted students won’t get their decision till the 28th

true true
but if you got forbidden + the student ID on cal campus whatever, is there still a chance for W/L or is that just an acceptance?

last year, waitlisted students got not authorized. so that’s why i’m comparing the straw polls to see if forbidden vs. not authorized means the same thing it did last year

hopefully it means the same as last year

Has the source code not updated or changed yet?

I think the best ā€œsignā€ right now is having an ID# (if one has not previously done any Cal classes). There does not seem to be a reason for Cal to give ID# to non-admitted students.

Has anyone with ā€œnot authorizedā€ been able to see an ID# in their campus solutions portal?

i think that would be a good sign as well, having an ID#
so far have not heard of anyone with not authorized + ID#

would def be weird if they started creating credentials for waitlisted students before decisions even come out. what would’ve changed for them to start doing that?

berkeley also isn’t designing these websites themselves - colleges outsource to other companies (pretty sure mostly Oracle). that’s why so many of these portals look identical. why would Oracle suddenly change the system for so many colleges?

not only that, i was waitlisted from ucla, and i don’t get a ucla id until i opt into the waitlist. it probably works the same way for berkeley, so it’d really be weird for them to give you an id if you’re waitlisted and haven’t even opted into the waitlist

though the counterargument is that berkeley must have some level of control over the inner mechanics of these systems - why else would this trick work only for berkeley? so there’s a tiny potential that berkeley, for whatever reason, decided to start creating credentials for waitlisted students before admissions decisions even came out

but again, the straw polls would suggest against that. so we should probably stop stressing

I’m desperate for the source code to change since myself and many others who applied for summer programs can’t see forbidden or not authorized so the source code is our only hope …
