Do they have data showing how many % students going to UCs in S. Cal are from N. Cal and vice versa? (or by calculation: 100% - % of students within ~200mile radius). UC Davis is > 100 miles from San Jose.
It seems they haven’t admitted from the waitlist since May 6. In the past years, I think they admitted more students shortly after the deadline for the earlier admitted students to accept/deny. Could this mean they are not going to admit any more students from the waitlist this year?
These are the admit dates for the last 3 years and they have gone into June.
2022: 1 wave on May 5. Closed on June 10. 2022.
2023: Admits April 18, May 9, May 23, June 1. Denials on June 21 and 28.
2024: May 21, May 30, June 4, June 13, June 24.
I am not willing to speculate but there is a trickle down effect as the other UC’s pull from their waitlists, more spots will open up. Until they officially close the waitlist, there is always a chance.
The UC Davis Class of 2029 waitlist and appeals process allows students to remain in consideration for admission or to request a reevaluation of their application. Much like , success in this phase depends on presenting a clear, compelling narrative—whether in a personal statement or appeal letter—that highlights your unique strengths and potential.
I hope your son got off the waitlist! We went through this last year (it’s grueling in CA) - my son was waitlisted at 4 CA schools. He was accepted off WL to UCD and has had a great year! We can’t imagine him anywhere else. It does seem to work out in the end.
Actually lowkey I’m reinvigorated with hope, 2022 was the 2021-2022 school year which was online due to Covid, the in person return was not guaranteed and as a result the ucs most likely did not pull from the waitlist as much. So I dknt expect them to do one wave again.
There is always a chance until they officially close the waitlist but since there has not been any movement since May 6, you need to get in the mindset that your current school is the one you should be focusing on now.
