UC Davis discontinued the waitlist statement last year. Did they allow you to submit one this year? I was not aware anything had changed from 2023 and individuals that opted into this year’s waitlist did not mention there was the waitlist statement or grade update option.

How do I accept the waitlist offer?
To accept our offer of a spot on the waitlist, students can login to MyAdmissions to opt-in to the waitlist. No letters of recommendation, transcripts or other documents are needed.

My D24 (waitlisted) was asked to submit senior year grades and there was space for “Additional Information.” We didn’t know if they meant a full essay so she just added a brief comment with an update on a couple things she’s been working on since November.
Thank you for the information. Unless one has access to the form, it is hard to determine what the options are for the waitlisted students. The website does not give specific instructions.
Up until last year, UC Davis had a required waitlist essay (more of an LOCI) so this additional information could be used for updates on new accomplishments.

Is anyone sending in a LOCI or updates regarding ec’s and what not? I’ve been seeing mixed responses from ppl and websites. Some say not to bc the UC’s have specifically said they won’t look at any additional info or even take it into consideration. Currently waitlisted at Davis, San Diego, and Berkeley.
If the UC’s wanted an LOCI, they would have asked for that information when the student opts into the waitlist. Follow the directions for each school’s waitlist.
UC Davis allows you to update your grades and there is a space for additional information where you could list new accomplishments.
The UC’s do not consider an applicant’s level of interest in their admission decisions as shown on the common dataset.
My son is not sending a LOCI to any of the CA schools he’s waitlisted. As Gumbymom said, they specifically asked not to send anything else. He just put in the fall senior grades for UC Davis. Good luck!
The UC Davis portal has a link to an input screen specifically for inputting first semester grades from senior year. Surprisingly my S24 was proactive and did that. Of note, he did not receive a request to input like others have indicated.
I can’t speak to the other UC’s as UCSD (accepted) and Berkeley (did not apply).
Both UC Berkeley and UC Davis discontinued their Waitlist essays last year for the waitlisted students. UCLA is the only UC that accepts a waitlist statement and they want updated grades, listing of new accomplishments and along with describing how you can be an asset to UCLA and the campus community.
does davis separate in state vs oos waitlists and would oos waitlist acceptances be higher bc its more expensive oos and ppl would choose not to go so they need more oos students to fill the spots?
You would have to go through the previous year’s Waitlist discussion threads and search for Psych majors and residency status. Admits are not broken out by major for statistical purposes.
I heard some ppl on reddit saying that they got some acceptances from ucs this year but apparently it was a glitch and wasn’t a legit acceptance did anyone hear about this too
