Yes, there was an issue noted and students from UCSD, UCD, UCI and UCR apparently heard they were admitted but then found it was a glitch.

UC Davis like all the UC’s will determine whom they admit off the waitlist based on their specific institutional priorities. The UC’s are capped for International and OOS enrollment to 18%. If they do not reach that enrollment number then they will pull from the waitlist to fill in the spots. Sure there is an incentive to maximize the number of enrolled OOS and International students due to higher tuition costs but they still have to stay with those enrollment targets.

when would u predict waitlists comes out for this year based on your experience on previous years? Like a time range? And would u say this years waitlists would be harder or easier to get in with the extended SIR and FAFSA issues with ppl not knowing their financial options for paying

It varies every year and with the FAFSA processing issues, I would expect UC Davis to look at the waitlist after the May 15 deadline but only admissions knows for sure.

Last year, they started admitting off the waitlist in April but the year before in May after the SIR deadline.

Regarding the predicted waitlist admit rates this year would u predict it would be easier to get off or harder due to the extended time to SIR and people not knowing their financial aid for paying due to FAFSA issues? Based on logic and predictions esp for oos since it costs more and ppl not having their finanical aid packages yet

would u predict oos enrollment would be lower bc of this? Sorry davis is my dream school and I rlly wanna get in

I do not work in admissions so I cannot say but since OOS students are not eligible for any financial aid other than Federal aid, the OOS students hoping for aid are going to be disappointed if they wait to SIR based on their FA package and the OOS students that can pay will SIR by the deadline. I am not one to predict since there are so many variables.

Today 1 year ago was the first wave of waitlist admits I think its gonna be different this year bc of FAFSA and SIR deadline extensions any thoughts or comments

Until admitted students get their financial aid packages, you are probably not going to see any movement.

In 2022, they starting admitting May 5 so each year is different.

I replied to you in another thread but for everyone here the appeal data for last year is 536 appeals received, 2 granted.

The waitlist data does not breakout the number of waitlisted students that are admitted by major, just the total and the majors admitted can change yearly.

Based on what I’ve read is it best not to call the school to ask for status regarding wait list?

I don’t think it hurts or helps you. The people who answer the phones at the admissions office are probably not the ones making the decision on your application ¯_(ツ)_/¯

FYI, the Statement of Intent to Register date MAY move from May 15 to June 1. Assuming it does not, and further assuming that timing this year follows last year (another huge IF), then next week could be the first admits off the WL. All these are huge presumptions, since there is so much variability from one year to the next. So basically, I just said who the heck knows…

Since its May now should waitlists be coming out between now and June
