Expect to hear after the May 15th SIR deadline date. Prior to this year, the SIR deadline was today so you usually saw movement within a few days to a week after the SIR deadline.
If I get off the davis waitlist would I have to email the school I SIRed at the cancel the SIR and tell them Imma attend Davis then send an SIR to davis?
If admitted off the UC Davis waitlist, you can enroll in UC Davis first and then withdraw your SIR from the other school (usually within 2 days). You will lose your enrollment deposit at the original school and have to pay the enrollment deposit at UC Davis.
While we await the waitlist decisions, I wanted to reflect on this time we’re experiencing together. From the application period starting last fall to now (May), this journey has felt long (even longer when you count the totality of the high school years in preparation for this moment). I believe we (or our children) are waitlisted at UCD because stats and hard work proved the qualifications to be here. Even some who got rejected were highly qualified but college decisions can feel so random sometimes. Honestly, you all deserve to be admitted, and I hope that everyone is proud of their accomplishments!
I know I am proud of my D24. For now, she has committed to her 7th choice school. That sounds a bit crazy as I type this, but it’s still a great school, and she is getting excited to go there. So much so to the point that she is now saying that even if she got off of her UC waitlists, she might still attend #7. This is great, we just want her to be happy with her college choice.
I think the point I am trying to make is, this has been an unprecedented year of waiting, prolonged by the FAFSA delays. Maybe in years past we would know our waitlist status by now, but this year we still don’t. However, students are committing to other schools, are feeling settled and even probably excited for these other options, and may decline waitlist offers if presented to them, despite that they would have totally gone to those schools in the first place. So if you’re still hoping to get into UCD or to get off of other waitlists, don’t give up hope! You definitely have a chance. It may be a bit more waiting, but some things are worth the wait. We’re in this together, and I wish all of you success and happiness wherever you may land.
Thank u so much for ur words of hope and encouragement! I hope we all get in
I saw on a tiktok or something someone predicted davis will start admits from waitlist on may 16th any credibility to this?
Only someone who works in admissions at UC Davis would know if there’s any credibility in that. Just gotta wait and see…
is anyone here also oos for the waitlist too
Daughter is OOS and still on the WL. Davis was her 1st choice, but she committed to CalPoly SLO. She loved the kids she met at SLO so I don’t know if she still will pick Davis over SLO.
Still no update from davis waitlist… waiting sucks
Are stats out on how many students were waitlisted and how many accepted the WL??
Usually that information is not available until the UC counselor conference in September and the final numbers are reported on the CDS in February of the following year.
I want them to move from the WL also. It’s just hard to imagine how schools do this before the SIR deadline even arrives. They don’t know what they really have (or don’t have) until that SIR date passes. The waiting totally suuucks though.
Hi All, Do we know how many appeals are actually filed for Davis and how many are actually honored/accepted? Any body here who has got the appeal accepted in 2023?
There may be some information about 2023 appeals in the 2023 thread about waitlists and appeals, but I haven’t combed through it. You could give it a look.
I have not been able to find any appeal numbers for UC Davis. For some other campuses, appeal information was listed at the UC Counselor conference and I posted that information on each campuses Waitlist discussion. Usually under 5% are approved and most are approved for Medical reasons or administrative errors.
The UC Davis appeal data is on the councilor presentation w/ notes on page 25
https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/_files/documents/2023-counselor-conference/pdfs-with-notes/ucop-and-campus-updates_with-notes.pdf
536 appeals received, 2 granted.
Thank you. I missed that information.
Thanks a much everyone who have contributed to my question. I have my child waiting for the appeal decision from UCD.
How can we find what is the UC GPA on the application filed?
