UC Essay: Almost done! Just need help finding the right word!

I’m almost done with my UC essays, but I’m having a little trouble finding the right word for the following sentence:

“I also plan to study for the AP Calculus BC exam to get a head start in my college math _____”

“Career” doesn’t seem right, but that’s KIND OF the type of word I’m looking for. I’m going to be an engineer, so obviously math will be a very important part of my college education. What word should I use (Or perhaps you have a better way to phrase the sentence?)?

curriculum?
to further delve into the world of mathematics?

Isn’t headstart one word?

Foundation? Reword the sentence to something like, “to get a head start in building my college-level math base” or something else?

Bah, I think it is.

Oh well, I already sent in my app.
