UC Riverside Class of 2028 Official Thread

I would contact SJSU housing but since there is no requirement for Freshman to live on-campus, most CSU’s will give priority to non-local students.

Yeah me too!
Primary major:CS but accepted for alternate major which is pre-bussines in CHASS

(In portal it says : The major to which you applied is highly selective. Although you have a strong academic record it did not qualify you for entry into this major. You have instead been admitted into an alternate major. You will be notified if space becomes available in the preferred major you selected.

Upon enrollment at UCR may constult with your academic advisor to find out what courses you need to take ad/or GPA you need to achieve to qualify for a change to your chosen major.

Again, congratulations on your admission to UC Riverside! )

Major awards: USAAAO Bronze medalist + published biology research paper+some cs competetions national round winner

Unweighted GPA: 19.83/20 (my school system is out of 20)
School location: Iran
Applied for need-based aid but haven’t recieved anything yet…
No APs since it’s not availabe in our country!

Congratulations on your acceptance. UC Riverside does not give need based aid to International students only merit aid so expect to pay close to full fees to attend unless you are a US citizen living abroad.

Honors invite for anyone?

Received honors invite. Make sure to register before March 17 even if not planning to attend.

My kid also just got an honors invite.

No not all admits get the Honors invite. Usually just the top applicants in the first decision wave.

register for what? My daughter texted she got an invite to apply to honors but is there an event to register for? She is in class so I haven’t seen the details yet.

My son also just received the Honors invite. The application deadline is March 17.

Has anyone received Regents scholarship?

Is there anyone who got accepted on 3/1, but did not get the Honor’s invite?
My D24 was admitted to her Alternate Major and not her first choice (CS) and she also got the Honor’s invite.

If your kid received a Honor’s invite, make sure they look at it. It is two 500 word essays. As they are specific to the Honor’s program, they likely won’t be able to reuse essays. My kid is very tired of writing essays.

I don’t think my daughter got an email about it.

Same with my S24. He got into his alternate major, and he got an invite today. If he was a “top applicant,” why didn’t he get into CS?

– that was a rhetorical question. I don’t think anyone really knows how these people make admission decisions. It’s a black box wrapped in an enigma, enveloped in mystery.

My son also got the invitation to apply to honor.

Yes, I know a person who got regents - if you got it, you would’ve known by now - it was listed with decisions.

Also, regarding the conversation around honors - everyone gets the application if you meet their GPA cutoff, I’m pretty sure. The biggest perk I see is the priority registration.

Thank you about the Regents information. I have not seen anyone post on any of the social media sites that they had received it.

Same it’s the one thing that worries me the most across all UCs is just the impacted courses. I’ve been checking out the subreddits for different UCs at registration time and inevitably Freshman stressed out about not getting into required GEs. My friends daughter is at UCB and I see firsthand how hard it is for her to get her classes. It’s my love/hate relationship w/UC.
