About 4 hours ago I’d say.
did you get an email?
anyone else still able to change their third choice major? on mine i’m still able to and it just surprised me considering that the deadline was yesterday.
also, i mentioned i wanted to be a vet in one of my piqs, but i don’t anymore due to personal reasons. i’m concerned this will make me seem like im not part of ucsd’s “institutional needs” since only davis has a vet program. do you think this will affect my chances?
I watch Dean J’s (an admission officer from UVA) videos and she is very clear that OOS and IS students are in different buckets since they need to have a certain percentage of IS students. Therefore the kids in each bucket are never competing with each other and when they take kids off the waitlist, it is from the bucket where the yield is lower than they expected.
Yes, there was an email with the heading “Admission Status Update”.
Sorry! OOS, Political Science/IR. Accepted to Sixth College
No, stating you want to be a Vet will not make a difference on being admitted off the waitlist. Schools know students change their mind.
Yeah it was one of those “an update has been posted in your application portal” kind of emails
when do we think in state students might be hearing back? i wonder why sd decided to accept people oos since this is superrr early
I think it could be related to the recent actions of the Trump admin regarding international students – it may be giving intl applicants cold feet on going to an American university resulting in abnormally low yield + currently tenuous economic situation could perhaps be driving yield down further
that def makes sense, i just hope this doesn’t mean that in state applicants may be at a disadvantage considering the fact that they are already accepting so many people oos and intl off the waitlist
UC’s have capped the OOS and International student enrollment for all campuses so the majority of enrolled students will still be in-state CA students.
Yep. As said in post #2 UC San Diego Class of 2029 Waitlist and Appeal Discussion - #63 by jym626
do you think we can expect in state soon? how about yield rates for in state?
Wouldn’t it be amazing if in state folks got notified before 5/1?
how much do you think ucsd waitlisted this year? i know it’s hard to predict but i saw that ucsb already has some numbers
Yield rates for Freshman 2024:
CA residents: 25%
International:17%
OOS: 11%
For In-state for the last 3 years, the yield rate has been pretty consistent with 2024 at 25%, 2023 at 27% and 2022 at 26% but also International and OOS have shown the same consistency for 2022-2024.
I just saw one in state student get off waitlist on a2c reddit about 2 days ago but it seems mostly oos students who are getting off waitlist
what major?
The person said biology I think
