@tropicaltaurus When you have to submit your 2nd sem scores, your school will have to report the drop. I highly doubt UCLA will revoke your admission based on one class. Have your guidance counselor help you clearly explain why you dropped the course. tbh the college classes I had were not helpful in anyway and most people here do not have the credits I had coming in just because most schools do not offer college classes. Don’t worry, you’re going to UCLA!
@Merppity Don’t sweat missing Bruin Day. Are you able to go to the regional UCLA day? I found that more useful. Bruin day is somewhat impersonal. It’s like a college fair day with everything spread all over campus. You have to make your own schedule and attend informative meetings that are not that informative. Orientation is much more informative and before that happens, I am sure you can get everything you need answered by phone or email. Bruin Day was cool to see in a festival type way. If I could go back in time, I would save my money. The UCLA day in my home city was cool and inspirational.
Does anyone know if it’s likely that they drop you if you have two Cs? Does e everyone get a provisional admission contract that says they must maintain a certain GPA etc. ?
@helicoptermomsUN Is a provisional admission contract an explicit condition assigned to students? Because if so, I don’t think all students receive them. At least in my personal experience.
I got accepted into UCLA but I got 2 C’s my senior year and now im worried because I’m not sure if they will rescind my admission or not. On the admission contract it said that I have to notify them if I get 2 or more C’s…now what?

My brothers girlfriend had this happen to her. She had two C’s second semester of senior year and UCLA withdrew the acceptance (which they’re totally allowed to do) but the important thing is to notify a UCLA counselor and they will evaluate your grades on a case by case basis
What if I had two Cs first semester? And second semester I have A’s and B’s? First, I didn’t know I was getting into UCLA. Second, I didn’t know that it’s not allowed to get 2 or more C’s. Do you think they are going to revoke my admission??
Also, when asking about maintaining a B unweighted average, does that mean cumulative or just by the year?

Hello! Californian here…It’s time for me to pick the place where I’ll be living for 4+ years and I’m in a tight spot. Between UCSD, UCI, UCLA, and UW, I’ve narrowed it down to UCLA & UW (seems like a no-brainier, but I have a thing for ferryboats). I got into UW for my intended major, Aerospace Engineering (I absolutely adore this school and everything about it feel right), but they are offering me $6,000 in grants and giving me the option of $45,000 in loans. My EFC is in the hundreds, so to pay off that much is possibly doable, but pretty scary to think I’d be over $160,000 in debt if I’m only going for a BS. UCLA, however, gave me Astrophysics as my major, a fantastic financial aid package - I’d only have to pay $9,000 a year, but I absolutely hate LA (something about makes it feel unwelcoming and I did not fall in love with the campus or the environment at all. Personally, it doesn’t compare to UW). I’m pretty set on engineering, and trying to transfer into UCLA’s engineering program is near to impossible…What should I do??? I feel like the answer is right in front of my face but input is nice! I would definitely go to UW if money wasn’t an issue but it is…
Is being that much in debt worth it? (Or is that a personal question?)
Are there people out there who have had experience with racking up tons of debt and ended up okay?

You can only borrow 5500 in year 1, the rest will have to be borrowed in the form of parent plus loans. It’s not just 160k, it’s also the interest on that, that you will have to factor in

I think you answered your own question. Attending a university for four years is obviously much more than going to class and studying. You dislike LA, the campus, and the entire environment. I get the money issues, but UW seems like an obvious choice for you.
@michep3 don’t put yourself in that much debt for your BS degree !!! 160,000 is insane ! Plus interest !!!
If you really don’t like UCLA maybe you should re consider one of the other UC’s like UCSD, who has a great engineering program as well.
The student can only borrow 5500 during the first year. The remaining is the responsibility of the parent. 160 plus interest is a lot. If your parents can afford it easily fine, otherwise I’d recommend doing a careful cost benefit analysis
I think I might’ve mentioned this before, but do you guys know if the min senior year GPA of 3.0UW in the admissions contract is UC gpa scale where pluses and minuses don’t matter? Or if it’s the GPA at your school? Because at my school a B- is 2.7 while for UC its a 3.0. Please help!
