UCLA Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion

Gpa at your school when they check your senior year grades

Unweighted

@pleaseacceptme99 are you sure it is not UC unweighted? And if it is do you think I’m screwed if I get a B- in just one of my classes?

i thought it was UC unweighted as well but i wasnt sure

I’m pretty sure it is uc unweighted because if it weren’t then in their admission contract wouldn’t they have said that we couldn’t get under a B-. If it is not uc unweighted, it implys that having 2 C+'s does not have to be reported. I doubt this is the case. Good luck!

That’s what my counselor told me but I guess he could be wrong. Safest bet would be to call a UCLA counselor and ask if you find yourself in a situation with less than great grades.

Hey guys so loyola Marymount offered me 41k a year. Or I could go to ucla for full price which I can barely afford and wil need to take out some loans. However, I love ucla and think it is superior to llmu. Do you guys think it is the best decision to go to ucla?

@bostonliving9696 it depends how much in loans you’d need? If you need loans in the double digits for UCLA, your best bet is LLMU and save UCLA for grad school :slight_smile: ultimately, however, you should go wherever you’ll be happiest! Not everything is about money :slight_smile: (as long as you’re not taking on an absurd amount of debt Lol)

@bostonliving9696 Loyola Marymount, like Eric said, you could always go to UC Los Angeles for grad school. The school won’t run away. You’ll get more of an intimate feel at Loyola Marymount as well. They both pretty much have the same location. Only difference is that UC Los Angeles, besides being a research university that emphasizes on it graduate and professional students, is the prestige of their athletics. This also shows that LMU wants you more than UCLA, unfortunately. Everything happens for a reason as well, maybe something will await you at LMU.

@michep3 Tell UW to go pound sand. That is absurd and an insult. $160,000 in loans is not aid, it’s a noose. I once asked an aerospace engineer to speak at my school. At the end I asked him if it mattered where you attended, he said he went to UCLA, another guy went to Princeton and a third guy went to Cal Poly Pomona. He said they all make the same money so it didn’t matter where you went. $160,000 in loans…geesssshhh

Hi, I was waitlisted by UCLA as a biology major. I just had some questions.

  1. Do they admit students off the waitlist by their first and second major?
  1. I know for the additional comments on the waitlist they ask for grades and any new achievements. I don't have any new achievements to list. Is there anything particular I should note (like why I want to go UCLA) because 7000 characters is so much.

1530 sat

It’s that crazy that I

@10s4life yes you can

Did anyone else get an email about joining the cheer squad ? I’m trying to figure out if it was just sent to everyone.

@pleaseacceptme99 No, do you think it’s a sign of acceptance? :))

@CalDude2020 Lol! Good one.

@pleaseacceptme99 I got the same little spirit squad invite though. I think it’s sent to everyone.

Appeals are open…the waiting begins again!

@khgymnast I thought so

@CalDude2020 receiving this one has a 100% correlation with being accepted. FYI future classes lol
