UCLA Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion

@CalDude2020 Oh, really? Okay, I want to find a pattern now.

Then does it depend on the day we submitted our application?

Guys, it’s just a promotional email. Calm down.

I don’t think there is a pattern. I think it’s completely random.

Also someone earlier said that promotional emails aren’t sent out in waves. But that’s wrong because the campus life email from a couple weeks back was also sent out in waves.

Like @berkeleybetch said earlier, you guys are reading into this way way way too much.

@bosnian I agree

@potato99 Biology major also. I received the email at 12:02pm yesterday.

It’s not that people don’t know those emails are promotional emails. I don’t know what other people think about it, but I just want to see why all the emails are sent in different times. You may think it’s random, but I have nothing to do, and I can’t do anything unless I find a solution to what I want to know. I don’t care about what was on the email. Then why do you think the school send emails randomly?

I received the same email today, Feb. 28, at exactly 11:00 AM (PST).

Major: Biochemistry
Stats: 1910 SAT / 3.45 UC GPA
Last name starts with the letter V.

I did not receive an invite to the Alumni Scholarship.

Perhaps this might be…outlandish, but do you think it is possible that they are sending out the email from high stats to lower stats?

@jackisawesome I don’t think that holds true. Some lower stats people got it the same time did. I have average stats for UCLA.

How about for colleges tho? I heard engineering students received theirs a few days ago. I am in the college of letters and science and I got mine yesterday.

@IBGuy101 Me too

hmm :confused: @IBGuy101 I applied CLS too and got mine yesterday, but idk what explains the wave time difference

S got the email

So bottom line. Everyone got the email.

@IBGuy101 I’m Aerospace (OOS) and got the email at 5:02 pm EST yesterday. Also, these types of emails are sent in waves, just like the last one. However, this one is rather strange because some people have received it 3-4 days ago. There are 100,000+ emails that have to be sent out; I’m pretty sure there is no correlation to this email and admissions. We are all over-analyzing this email and just need to chillax; decisions come out within 19 days (if on March 18).

So has everyone received the email now?

There used to be a tv show called “The Twilight Zone” and one of the episodes was about a neighborhood in which everyone’s electricity went out except for one house. All the neighbors got hystrical because this one person had electricity and they didn’t. Then another house would get electricity and the first would lose theirs and then another one would get it and so on. As the electricity situation moved from house to house it caused more and more hysteria and accusations and a near riot. At the end of the episode you find out some aliens are sitting on a hill and are behind the whole thing watching the what is taken place. They then decide that there is not enough intelligent life on Earth to make contact and leave in their spaceship. I sometimes wonder if ad comm people are like that. LIke if they send emails out in waves and then wait to see the response after each wave is sent, then send some more etc…

Lol @Mysonsdad great analogy! Do you ever think about admissions officers lurking through this thread and watching us go crazy over everything?
Why can’t UC’s give decisions on a rolling basis!?

I think we should all have concluded by now that this was just a promotional email. lol we can all calm down and relax

@bruin2020 That idea would be worse imo. Just watch the Cal Poly SLO thread. So much anxiety and unneeded checking of the portal.

@bruins2020, If I were an AO I would. After a day of work it would be fun to see what people are saying. However, they may stay off because any information on here may give someone an undue edge. Like for example, let’s say they were reading this right now and I told them that Mysonsdad, kid forgot to put on his common application that he thinks he found a cure for cancer and once saved the President’s life, an adcom person may use that info to let them in. Just saying…

On another note, your heart is for UCLA, I hope you get in, they deserve someone like you (I mean that in a good way).

I still wonder about the email though, why would it say, “New Bruin?” Wouldn’t that be a cruel joke to people who don’t have CC and think they are admitted? People without CC would not know if it was sent to everyone.

When decisions come out, please post what emails you may have gotten so you can see if there was a clue to if you got in beforehand for those applying next year.

@IBGuy101 Legit, me and my friends check the SLO portal everyday. A few of our friends checked theirs and actually got admissions, so our entire school is literally checking every portal constantly. or at least I think they do :stuck_out_tongue:
