UCLA Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion

@momteach Her major (acting) requires an audition and interview as part of the evaluation process.

@Muttle1 Okay. Yes, my son applied to TFT and didn’t receive invitation to interview, so I’m assuming he won’t be admitted. He did receive invite to alumni scholarship though, so it’s disappointing.

For what it is worth; the last 3 emails My S received from UCLA came at 10:00 pm exactly on the days they arrived. including the NewBruin email… signs point to promotional. DARN!

Anyone know when we’ll hear back for the Alumni Scholarship?

@dashley from past threads - they contact you shortly after you are admitted

I received the alumni scholarship invite but I feel like I am only the average UCLA applicant. 33 ACT, 4.18 UC GPA, 4.45 fully weighted GPA. Any thoughts?

Is a 32 ACT, 4.33 UC GPA, 4.72 Weighted Uncapped, 4.0 Unweighted good enough for ucla?

I just want to know when decisions come out.

Decisions for UCLA are set to come out on either the 18th or the 20th (I’m betting on the 18th).

@coldplayer98 judging only on your stats, yes. If your stats are not good enough, I don’t know what would make mine. I wouldn’t even worry about your stats tbh

does anybody know when the admission results are coming out?

@WonwillP Ms. Sun says March 18th:

Look up two messages lol @WonwillP

Most likely March 18th @WonwillP

Last year, the decisions were available on line late in the day on Friday, March 20th. UCLA and UCB were the last two of the UC’s to release decisions. My S received his notice from UC-SC about a week before, and UC-SB the day before UCLA released decisions. We were out of the country, without cell service or any access to the internet for that week, so he did not see the actual decisions until the Sunday after. Anyway, he received notice that the UC-SB decision was available by a text message and I believe he received a notice by email that he could access his UCLA decision through the portal.

I concur that Friday, March 18, will probably be the date this year. The third Friday in March appears to be the pattern for the past few years. The date also makes sense because it is the last day of the quarter and the school will be on spring break the following week.

Good luck to everyone. I know this is a stressful time, but, for what it’s worth, my S was accepted at all three of the UC’s (humanities) and he is currently attending UCLA. His SAT was in the 1900’s (1980?), so please realize that this is only one factor in the process. Since the applicant pool is so large, some people were denied with perfect numbers while others were accepted with numbers that were lower than one would expect. It truly is a holistic process. Try to breathe easy, realize that you gave it your best shot, and understand that you will get into a great school, regardless of what happens in a few weeks.

Again, best of luck to all of you.

So if I didn’t get an Alumni Scholarship invite, does that pretty much mean bad news for me?

No ofc not! @itsmyusername I know people who have already been accepted to Berkeley (in that super early round) and with 2400s, URM, 4.0 UW, and they didn’t even get it. I would just relax and wait til the decisions are released, as we both have chances at UCLA  Good luck!

.

@BeastofRP More like what is his college within the university? Aside from in engineering, UCLA only considers the college to which applicants are applying to.

Is anyone else scared to check their portals? I can’t even bring myself to go to the portal log in page. :frowning:
