Not sure if anyone read this article yet but it talks about UCLA admissions for this year due to COVID. I am sure a lot of appeals will go through and waitlists as well!
@atharmony how were your stats? When you say your stats arenât too great, were they slightly below average but in range, or just not there at all? I think that your stats would probably be why your appeal was not accepted because it does seem very compelling.
Hi everyone! Firstly, I am really grateful to see many of you guys supporting each other. Sure, we didnât get the decision we wanted, but we still have a chance.
Hereâs some information about me (probably useful for both co 2024/2025):
Stats: 1490 SAT 113 Toefl 4.0 UW GPA
Demographics: Asian International Computer Sci
What I talked in my appeal: some personal struggles that I donât want to reveal publicly
Appeal Submitted 4/9/20 midnight
The decision never received as of 5/2/20
Hopefully, my info helps. Go 2024er!
@Hopeful2024er Did you say you are open to a different major? Because I am pretty sure the engineering school is full. Good luck tho! Fingers crossed that we all get in
@UCLAParent123 If I didnât get in thatâs completely OK. Since a rejection was inevitable based on last yearâs 0.6% acceptance rate, I was basically buying a lottery ticket. If it loses it loses. I SIRed to UCI ICS.
UCIâs a great school! Good luck!
@UCLAParent123 Iâm just wonderingâŠyou say that no news means good newsâŠis that usually true though? I am kind of losing hope LOL
I submitted my appeal on April 14 and just received my rejection today no email just logged in into my portal and there it was. Good luck everyone! I also SIRd to UC Irvine!
Did u get it right now or in the morning? @lowkeycrushed
Well I woke up late but Im pretty sure I received it in the morning
@atharmony im very surprised your appeal didnât go through! Health reasons are a strong basis for a letter of appeal. If anyoneâs curious, I wrote mine about being sexually assaulted and how that affected my academic career. (Also still waiting)
would anxiety be a good reason for appeal?
@samkr14 if it affected you pretty badly Iâm pretty sure anything can be a good reason for an appeal ??
@bryanngocpham Ya I talked about how it kind of lowered my self esteem and stuff like that which kind of affected my GPA which I felt was a genuine reason to appeal. Also, I talked about how I had to withdraw from school for 3 months and had to leave the country cuz of a family emergency (I orginally had included this in my application) and I just ended off with my extra curriculars and that I didnât let my anxiety stop my way of pursuing my passions and ambitions through my extra curriculars and stuff like thatâŠis this a good appeal? I am not really sure
@samkr14 If they havenât denied you yet, it means your appeal was strong. And yes, historically no news is good news as they accept everyone last. I checked last years thread and everyone who got their decision early was rejected.
@UCLAParent123 Would they have read our appeals already though or no? Because why are we getting ours late?
@samkr14 I submitted my appeal really early. And people who submitted it after got denied. So theyâve definitely read all of them. I think it just comes down to numbers on how many they can accept
@samkr14 @UCLAParent123 hey guys I know we donât wanna get out hopes up but I lowkey think they might accept us⊠theyâve DEFINITELY read all of them. They obviously wouldnât just rejected us immediately if they knew we donât have potential.
Im trying so hard to not get my hopes up⊠but if i end up getting rejected I wont be surprised hah aLMAO
@Gumbymom Do you have any information on appeals this year?
